Nissan Tekton launch by festive season 2026 New 7-seater Nissan SUV arriving next year Both petrol and strong hybrid engines will be on offer
The Japanese automaker, Nissan has launched the new Gravite 7-seater MPV in the sub-4 meter segment. It is essentially the re-badged Renault Triber MPV, and will be manufactured at the Renault’s Chennai based plant. In order to revive its sales, the company will launch two new SUVs to take its product portfolio to 5 products. The company is currently selling the Magnite, X-Trail and the new Gravite.
Nissan will introduce a new mid-size SUV, called the Tekton in 2026. Moreover, the company is preparing a 7-seater derivative to the Tekton which is scheduled to be launched in early 2027. The Nissan Tekton will be based on the same CMF-B modular platform that underpins the new-gen Renault Duster. It was originally planned to be revealed in February 2026; however, the launch has been delayed and is now expected to be revealed by April 2026.
The Tekton will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra and others in the mid-size SUV category. It is expected to measure around 4.3 meters in length. Nissan has already confirmed the Tekton SUV takes design inspiration from the brand’s flagship Patrol SUV, featuring a boxy shape, a bold front fascia, C-shaped LED lighting signature and high-set bonnet.
Inside the cabin, the new Nissan Tekton SUV will have a layered dashboard with soft touch material. In terms of features, the SUV will get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic AC and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree surround view camera and LEVEL 2 ADAS tech.
It will be offered with two turbo petrol engines, including a 100hp, 1.0L 3-cylinder and a 163hp, 1.3L turbo. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT with 1.3L unit. The SUV will also get a hybrid powertrain, which is the same 1.8L GDI unit with dual motor and a 1.4kWh battery pack.
This will be a 7-seater SUV based on the CMF-B modular platform, and is expected to be launched in early 2027. Not just the platform, the new SUV will share the engine specs with the Tekton. It is expected to be powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.8L strong hybrid engine. The SUV will have a longer wheelbase than the Tekton, and is expected to measure around 4.5-4.6 meters in length.
