JSW Motors to launch Jetour T2 by festive season 2026 Jetour T2 PHEV to offer 1200km combined range

JSW Motors will officially start its independent innings in India by festive season, before Diwali 2026. The company in partnership with Chinese Chery will introduce the Jetour T2 SUV in the country as its product. This SUV has now been spotted testing in Pune, which suggests that this model could be going through ARAI-related testing and homologation work.

It is reported that JSW Motors will introduce the plug-in hybrid version of the Jetour T2 in India. This SUV offers a combination of the rugged Defender-like aesthetics and a high-tech Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. This hybrid tech will remove two issues with big SUVs, Range Anxiety and Fuel Efficiency.

The SUV carries a boxy design that offers MINI Defender appeal. It offers a bold, upright stance, and offers a boxy portfolio. In terms of styling, the SUV gets square LED headlamps, a flatter roof, squared-off wheel arches and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. With 220mm of ground clearance, the Jetour T2 is built to handle more than just broken city roads.

Inside the cabin, the plug-in hybrid SUV comes equipped with a massive 15.6-inch central touchscreen powered by the Snapdragon 8155 chipset. It gets a 10.2-inch digital instrument console, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system.

The Jetour T2 is claimed to offer a staggering 1200km combined range on a single tank of fuel and a full charge. This is made possible by the “i-DM” (Intelligent Drive Model) system. The new hybrid SUV is powered by a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a dual motor setup paired with a 26.7 kWh battery pack. The combined power and torque output stands at 381hp and 610Nm, respectively.

The PHEV offers an electric-only range of around 139km, which makes city commutes hassle free and affordable. The hybrid setup is paired to a 3-speed DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission), which is claimed to be more efficient at managing power between the engine and motors than a standard CVT.

The SUV is likely to be locally assembled at JSW Motors Greenfield manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. Expected to be priced around Rs 25-30 lakh, the Jetour T2 will rival the high variants of the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and Jeep Compass.
