Jetour T2 will be JSW Motors' first model in India JSW to launch iCar V23 EV and Jaecoo J5 EV
It is no secret that JSW Motors has partnered with Chery Automobile to introduce a wide range of new passenger vehicles in India. This JV will also help JSW to enter as an independent passenger vehicle brand. Chery is the Chinese car manufacture, and has owned multiple brands including Jetour, Jaecoo, iCAR and Exeed. Under this partnership, JSW Motors will import Chery’s global products, and assemble them at its new Greenfield manufacturing facility.
If reports are to be believed, JSW Motors will initially introduce 3 new SUVs which are derived from Chery models on sale in select international markets. The Jetour T2 will be the first model to arrive in our market, followed by Jaecoo J5 EV and iCar V23 EV.

The Jetour T2 is a boxy, rugged SUV that has been designed as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Land Rover Defender. In the global markets, the T2 is offered with ICE and PHEV powertrains. However, the India-spec model is expected to get the Plug-in Hybrid engine. This model will work as a bridge to fill the gap between petrol and electric power.
This model is packed with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine paired with a dual-motor electric setup. The combined power and torque output stands at 381 PS and 691 Nm, respectively. It is likely to be packed with a dedicated 4WD system combined with a 205mm ground clearance, and an aggressive 39-degree approach angle will add to its off-road capabilities. It gets a 26.7 kWh battery pack, and the Jetour T2 offers an EV-only range of around 100-139 km for city commutes. Combined with a full tank of petrol, the total range will cross 1,000 km.
In terms of features, the Jetour T2 gets a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit powered by a Snapdragon 8155 chip. It gets wireless connectivity, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, LEVEL 2 ADAS tech and panoramic sunroof.

It will be a retro-styled electric SUV, which draws inspiration from the likes of the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The global-spec model is available with two battery choices - 59.93 kWh and 81.76 kWh. While the former will have rear-axle-mounted electric motor, the bigger battery gets a dual-motor setup for AWD capabilities. It is claimed to offer a range of up to 510 km on a single charge.
Some of the design highlights include round-shaped LED headlamps, a flat swing-type tailgate with an external storage box, and flared-wheel arches. The electric off-roader is packed with a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, squared-off steering wheel, automatic climate control, ventilated and powered front seats, and others.

JSW Motors’ third product for our market will be based on Chery Jaecoo J5, which has been spotted testing in India. This model will have typical SUV design traits, featuring clean and minimalistic design. It gets slim LED headlamps and tail-lamps, 19-inch aero-optimised wheels, a large 14.8-inch vertically oriented touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, and a 540-degree camera system. The electric SUV gets 6 airbags and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
This five-seater electric SUV will measure around 4.4 metres in length. It is expected to come with all-electric powertrain. The Jaecco J5 is packed with a 60.9 kWh battery pack paired with a front-axle motor, and offers a combined power and torque output of 210hp and 288Nm, respectively. It is claimed to offer a range of 461 km.
