The homegrown UV maker is getting aggressive with its electric strategy, as the brand is planning to introduce a wide range of e-SUVs in the country in the next 16 months. The company will introduce three EVs under the XUV nameplate including XUV 3XO EV, XUV.e8 and XUV.e9. Adding to it, 3 more BE range products - BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09 will join the brand's electric range.
Except for the XUV 3XO EV, all 5 Mahindra electric SUVs will be based on the brand's new skateboard architecture. The first BE range product to be launched in our market is the production version of the Mahindra BE.05 concept. In fact, the SUV has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. This electric SUV is planned to be launched in our market by October 2025.
Going by the spy shots available on the Internet, it is visible that the Mahindra BE.05 production model will have a concept-like interior. For people not in the know, the concept model was showcased in 2022. The cabin will have a large digital screen that houses both the infotainment unit and instrument cluster. It will have a flat top-and-bottom two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated 'BE' logo.
The Mahindra BE.05 will measure around 4.4 meters in length and will rival the likes of the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. The exact specifications and battery details are yet to be revealed, but Mahindra claims that the INGLO platform-based EVs will support battery sizes from 60-80kWh. Moreover, the battery can support fast charging up to 175kW. Using this fast charger, the battery can be charged from up to 80% in less than 30 minutes. It is likely to come as a rear-wheel-drive electric SUV, while a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup could also come as an optional.
