Two new sub-brands; Technology partnership with VW Group; 5 new EVs

Mahindra & Mahindra has finally taken the wraps of its much anticipated ‘Born Electric Vision’ concept SUVs. Unveiled today, the EVs promise a whole new world of sophistication and path breaking technologies for the future.

Mahindra Born Electric Concept: Two New Brands and One New Platform

Announced today, the company has set-up two new sub-brands for mass market electrification. Called the ‘Twin Peaks Electric’ and ‘BE’ these brands offer a varied variety of technology and designs to appeal to different distinctions of the society. The Twin Peak will be part of the existing line-up with two new products while the BE will offer three new designs and silhouettes for the brand new SUVs. The cars will share the platforms among them which will be called the INGLO architecture.

This new skateboard EV architecture will be scalable, lightweight and modular, making it suitable for accommodating variety of top hats. The powertrain is a fruit of the JV between Mahindra and Volkswagen Group, and is expected to offer come with an advanced cell architecture. Christined the Blade (80 kWh) and Prismatic (60 kWh) architecture, these new EV high voltage systems accept charge speeds up to 175 kWh and recharge from 0-80 percent in under 30 minutes. The new power unit will be available as both RWD and AWD with 170 kW and 250 kW of peak power output. The SUVs can sprint from 0-100 kmph in under 6 seconds.

Mahindra Born Electric Concept: 5 New models

The brand today announced 5 new models under both the brands. The cars under the BE brands will be called the BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. The other two models will be an adaptation of the XUV line-up and will be called the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9. Designed on the Heartcore philosophy, the SUVs will feature an aerodynamic design with low drag co-efficient.

On the inside, all models will get a revolutionary cockpit with edge-to-edge screen, AR enabled heads-up display and more. The futuristic cabin is devoid of buttons making the central screen the control centre of the car. In addition, it also gets a new drive mode called the ‘Thrust Mode’, intelligent multi-level regenerative braking system and Level 2 ADAS. The car will also come embedded with a 5G sim-card and will get OTA updates.
