Mahindra & Mahindra is set to unveil its all-new Freedom ‘NU’ monocoque platform along with four new concepts - Vision S, Vision T, Vision SX and Vision SXT on August 15, 2025. What’s more interesting is that Mahindra will showcase its all-new compact SUV on the same day. The all-new Mahindra compact SUV has been spotted multiple times on the Indian roads, revealing some key details.
It was speculated to be the new-gen Bolero Neo; however, media reports claim that the SUV will carry a completely different nameplate. The new compact SUV comes with completely new body panels and a new design language.
The new Mahindra compact SUV is likely to be based on the new front-wheel-drive NU platform. However, it will continue to feature the signature Mahindra rugged styling associated with products like Scorpio-N, Thar Roxx and Bolero.
Spy images suggest that the new Mahindra SUV will share several design elements from the Thar Roxx. It will come with a boxy design with a flat bonnet, squarish front design and shorter overhang. The front has a differently designed grille, featuring Mahindra’s new logo, a rugged bumper that houses a new fog lamp housing, and a more upright nose. The SUV also gets a Thar-Roxx like circular headlamps.
The new Mahindra compact SUV will come with flush-type fitting door handles, squarish wheel arches, roof rails, a side hinged rear door, and a tailgate mounted spare wheel, and new vertically stacked tail-lamps.

It is expected that the new Mahindra compact SUV will share the engine options with the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The petrol version could get the new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 109bhp and 230Nm of torque. The diesel version could get the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox choices. Mahindra could also use the 1.5L 3-cylinder diesel unit that powers the Bolero Neo. Transmission choices likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The homegrown automaker is also working on an all-new hybrid powertrain based on the 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol unit. This hybrid unit is expected to be introduced with the XUV 3XO subcompact SUV in 2026. Mahindra could also offer this hybrid engine in the new compact SUV at a later stage.
