New Elantra gets a sharp, sporty design with a bigger body Cabin features a 17-inch screen and new AI-powered system Hybrid system updated with better performance and efficiency
Hyundai has officially revealed the new-generation Elantra at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show in Korea. In its home market, the sedan is sold as the Avante, and the latest model brings one of the biggest design changes in the car’s history.
The new Elantra moves away from soft curves and now follows a much sharper and more aggressive design theme.
At the front, the sedan gets a low and wide stance with sharp edges and thin LED light strips. The bumper design is heavily sculpted, giving it a more sporty and futuristic look.
From the side, the car now looks more dynamic with strong character lines and a unique C-pillar design. The rear section stands out with a sharp boot lid, connected LED tail lamps, and a small duck-tail spoiler.
Overall, the new Elantra looks more premium and sport-focused compared to the outgoing model.

Hyundai has also increased the size of the sedan. The new Elantra is now 55 mm longer and 30 mm wider, while the wheelbase has grown by 30 mm.
This should help improve rear seat space and overall comfort inside the cabin.
Inside, the biggest highlight is the new dashboard layout. The cabin now gets a large 17-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect software.
It is paired with a 9.9-inch digital driver display. The layout looks modern but still keeps some physical buttons for easier use while driving.
The steering wheel has a new flat-bottom design, and the overall cabin feels more digital and clean.
A new feature called Gleo AI has also been added. It is a generative AI assistant that can handle voice commands, answer queries, and control vehicle functions.
This makes the new Elantra more connected and smarter than before.
Under the hood, Hyundai is expected to continue with a 1.6-litre hybrid engine, but with major updates.
Reports suggest a new dual-motor hybrid setup producing around 155 PS. The system may also offer improved efficiency, better driving response, and updated regenerative braking.
The new Hyundai Elantra will first launch in Korea as the Avante. It will later be introduced in select global markets.
However, an India launch is unlikely since Hyundai has already discontinued the Elantra here and sedan demand has been declining in the market.
