New Hyundai Tucson Revealed - Key Details Inside

Hyundai has revealed key details of its new-generation Tucson at a media event in South Korea. The 2027 Hyundai Tucson will go on sale in its home market in October 2026 and gets major updates in terms of size, powertrains, safety and technology.

The new Tucson is larger than the outgoing model and gets both turbo-petrol and hybrid powertrains. Hyundai has also added new features, improved aerodynamics and updated the suspension. The company has not yet confirmed an India launch for the new-generation SUV.

New Hyundai Tucson Gets Bigger

The 2027 Tucson has grown in size compared to the outgoing model. It is 60mm longer and 40mm wider, while its wheelbase has increased by 30mm. The extra dimensions have also helped improve space inside the cabin. Hyundai says second-row headroom has increased by 29mm to 1,031mm. The rear doors can now open up to 83 degrees, compared to 73 degrees on the previous model.

New Tucson Gets Two Powertrain Options

The new Hyundai Tucson will be available with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 193hp and 265Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The engine produces 13hp more than the equivalent unit in the outgoing model.

The second option is a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid. The next-generation hybrid system produces a combined 245hp, while Hyundai claims a fuel efficiency figure of 17.4kpl. The hybrid model also gets an ‘Inertial Driving Guidance’ feature. It can prompt the driver to lift off the accelerator when appropriate to help improve fuel efficiency.

Better Aerodynamics And Suspension

Hyundai has worked on the Tucson’s aerodynamics as part of the new-generation update. The drag coefficient has dropped from 0.33 to 0.30 on both petrol and hybrid versions. The SUV gets active air flaps, a roof spoiler, a dedicated rear bumper spoiler and a new 17-inch wheel design to help reduce air resistance.

The suspension has also been revised. Hyundai has strengthened the front suspension mounting points and the underbody structure supporting the rear suspension. A new suspension valve has been added to improve ride comfort and body control. The hybrid version also gets an E-Traction function that uses the drive motor to help reduce body movement during driving.

More Safety Features

The new Tucson gets nine airbags as standard. It also features navigation-based adaptive cruise control along with front and rear collision-avoidance assist. Another notable addition is the memory-based reverse assist system. It can automatically steer the SUV while retracing a previously recorded path. The ‘Ground View’ function is another new feature. It displays the surface underneath the SUV on the infotainment screen, which can be useful when driving over difficult surfaces.

New Tucson Gets High-Tech Cabin

The cabin of the 2027 Tucson has also received a major update. It features a floating-style dashboard, a D-cut steering wheel and a slim digital driver’s display. The central touchscreen will be offered in 12.9-inch and 17-inch sizes, depending on the variant.

Hyundai’s Pleos Connect system is also part of the new Tucson. It comes with built-in Gleo AI and supports third-party applications through the Pleos App Market. The SUV will be available with four monotone and three dual-tone interior themes.

New Hyundai Tucson Gets Fresh Design

The new Tucson follows Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ design language. At the front, it gets vertical H-shaped LED daytime running lights along with a slim horizontal light strip. The rear gets a new prism-effect lighting design. Other design elements include roof rails, flared wheel arches and conventional pull-type door handles.

The more rugged XRT variant gets a different grille, wheel-arch garnish and skid plate. Hyundai will offer the new Tucson in eight exterior colours, including five new options. These include Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Grey Matte, Driftwood Grey Metallic, Redrock Orange Matte and Goyo Copper Pearl.

New Hyundai Tucson India Launch

The new-generation Hyundai Tucson will arrive in South Korea in October 2026. However, Hyundai has not confirmed an India launch date yet. If brought to India, the new Tucson could get the updated design, new technology and hybrid powertrain offered on the latest-generation model. For now, Hyundai is yet to announce its plans for the Indian market.
