Patent images of the next-generation MG Astor, sold as ‘ZS’ abroad, were recently leaked online revealing major exterior changes. In India, the carmaker sells the petrol MG Astor and ZS EV, the latter being its all-electric avatar. The ZS EV will get an update later in 2025 following the Astor.
Starting from the front, the 2025 MG Astor gets new headlights with projectors and a redesigned bumper housing C-shaped fog lamps. The design language is reminiscent of the MG3 hatchback sold in the UK.
The side profile looks bulkier and aligns with the boxy SUV design philosophy. Its ORVMs get cameras for lane watch assist and the alloys have also been redesigned. Pull-type door handles have been retained in the five-seater SUV.
A rear wiper and high-mounted stop lamp in the spoiler can be seen in the leaked photographs. Taillights are new and probably all-LED and the bumper has been revised for a simpler look. However, unlike the current generation Astor with three reverse parking sensors, the upcoming Astor gets four of them.
While there is no official announcement yet from MG on the new Astor’s launch timeline here, we expect it to hit the Indian showrooms late next year or 2026. Update to the ZS EV to follow later and is likely to get similar exterior changes. From 2025-2028, MG has eight launches lined up for India, including the Astor. Its Gloster and Hector SUVs will also be getting updates and an electric sports car is planned during the same time frame.
MG India sells the Astor with two petrol engines while the ZS EV is its electric sibling. Ex-showroom prices for the former and latter start at Rs. 9.98 lakh and Rs. 18.98 lakh, respectively. Its rivals in the compact SUV segment include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
