The Swedish automaker, Volvo has officially revealed the EX30 Cross Country which is the improved version of its compact electric SUV for rougher terrains. This new version marks the brand's first time to apply the Cross Country designation to an electric vehicle and an SUV.
Through this article, we will guide to on what has been revealed by Volvo for the cross-country electric SUV.
The automaker has explained that the EX30 Cross Country is not a hardcore off-roader instead it is targeted towards "weekend explorers" to help them "access nature on nature's terms rather than conquer it".
The standard crossover of the SUV is much on the softer side, however, this cross-country edition through the images looks more rugged with its blacked-out fascia. The SUV gets a 19mm increase in ground clearance, a roof rack, and black cladding on the fenders.
The front and back of the EX30 Cross Country get chunky skid plates and 18-inch alloy wheels as standard wrapped up in 720mm all-terrain tires. In addition, customers can opt for 19-inch alloy wheels as well, but these can only be had with road tires. With its major focus on greater off-road experience, the SUV gets a softer five-link rear suspension for a better deal with rougher terrain, muddy tracks, "ankle-deep" snow, and highways, as per Volvo.
As for the interior, there is no change in this version and stays the same as the standard EX30 SUV. It continues with features like a 12.3-inch Google-based touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a soundbar that runs across the width of the dashboard, and more.
The company will be selling the EX30 Cross Country with only dual motors (produces 427 bhp and 543 Nm of torque) and AWD, yet it is expected that a single-motor variant could join the range. The SUV is powered by the same 69kWh battery as in the top-spec variant of the standard model. Volvo claims that this setup offers up to 427km of range (WLTP).
The price of the EX30 Cross Country is yet to be revealed by Volvo, also an India launch of this cross-country SUV is unconfirmed. However, the brand is all set to bring the standard EX30 alongside the larger EX90 to India this year.
