Building on its 25 percent market share in the luxury electric car segment, Volvo Cars India has unveiled, the Volvo C40 Recharge in India. The new model is larger than the existing Volvo XC40 Recharge and sits on top of the model in the company’s line-up.
With the unveiling of this new model, the company has set in motion its broader plan to go all-electric by 2030.
In terms of exterior design, the new C40 Recharge is identical to the XC40 Recharge from the front but gets an all-new rear-end design. The new coupe-like silhouette along with the steeply raked rear windscreen boot lip spoiler give the car some sporty character.
Other significant elements on the outside include a new Pixel LED headlamp with 'Thor's Hammer' DRLs, a closed-off grille with the Volvo logo in the centre, muscular bumpers and distinctive C-shaped LED taillamps with a vertical brake light bar. Also new are the 19-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels which complete the overall look of the car.
Built on the CMA platform, the new C40 Recharge measures 4,440 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width and 1,595 mm in height. In terms of storage, the car gets 31 litres of front storage and 413 litres of boot space.
Like most EVs in 2023, the Volvo C40 Recharge also takes the eco-friendly route for the interior. The cabin is finished in vegan upholstery and recycled carpets. The Sky-Blue cabin features a traditional Volvo layout with dual digital displays (one for infotainment, the other for the instrument cluster) along with a long centre tunnel with a shift-by-wire gear selector.
The equipment list on the new model includes a 9.0-inch tablet-like touchscreen infotainment system powered by Google, another 12-inch fully digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic AC, back lit décor, fixed panoramic sunroof, smart air purifier, 13-speaker Harman Kardon Premium sound system, wireless smartphone charger and more.
