Ford has already raised the excitement amongst its fans by announcing its comeback in India. Earlier, it was reported that the American automaker would re-enter India by introducing Everest as a full import. Based on recent media reports, the new Ford Ranger pickup was spied testing again, hinting at its launch in the Indian market. Previously, this pickup was spied alongside new-gen Endeavour (Everest) in Chennai. Moreover, the Ranger will share its platform and powertrain with the Ford Everest. Let's know more.
Ford Ranger Pickup: Design Details
From the design perspective, the Ranger is quite similar to the Everest model. It features a large radiator grille with a horizontal bar and a brand logo at the centre. It also has squarish headlamps and C-shaped LED DRLs, identical to Everest. However, the front bumper is slightly different. The side profile is also similar to the Everest model. But, the rear profile highlights a new tailgate design where the 'Ranger' is stamped into metal.
Interior Layout and Features
Moving inside, the pickup has an all-black theme, featuring a horizontally-stacked touchscreen infotainment system. Other tech features include a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, FordPass Connect technology, and more.
Specifications
Like Everest, the Ford Ranger is expected to come equipped with multiple engine options, including a 2.0-litre turbo diesel, a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel, and a 3.0-litre V6 diesel. All these engine options could be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, the 2.0-litre engines might get both 4x2 and 4x4 drive layouts while the 3.0-litre V6 unit could come with a full-time 4x4 system.
India Launch and Rivals
Speculations suggest that Ford is expected to launch both Everest and Ranger in India as a full import. However, it is said that at a later stage, these models could be locally assembled. As for the rivals, the Ford Everest will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner while the Ranger will compete with the Toyota Hilux in India.
