Volkswagen to Soon Launch 2 Mass-Market Cars in India

VW Virtus facelift launching this Diwali season Volkswagen confirms a sub-4 meter SUV, launch in 2027

Volkswagen is preparing to launch multiple new cars, including two mass-market models in the Indian market by 2027. The company will soon launch the VW Virtus facelift, which has been spotted testing numerous times on the Indian roads. Adding to it, Volkswagen will re-enter the sub-4 meter segment with an all-new SUV in 2027.

VW Virtus facelift in Detail

The new Virtus facelift is expected to be launched during the festive season, before Diwali 2026. The facelifted model will receive cosmetic design and interior changes along with a new gearbox. The sedan is expected to receive new grille elements, revised internals for headlamps and taillights, and revised bumpers along with redesigned alloys.

The sedan will get a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument console and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a rear seat massager, front parking sensors and others. It will continue to be offered with a 115hp, 1.0L 3-cylinder and 150hp, 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engines. Instead of a 6-speed automatic gearbox, the 1.0L turbo unit will be paired with an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.

Volkswagen Compact SUV

The German automaker has officially announced to enter the sub-4 meter category with an all-new compact SUV. The SUV is scheduled to be launched in 2027, most probably in the first half. It will be the re-badged version of the Škoda Kylaq, but Volkswagen will make several changes to its design and interiors to give it a distinct look.

The new SUV will be positioned against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. It is expected to be powered by a 1.0L turbo petrol engine producing 115hp and 178Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
