The new Swift Sport gets a new 1.4L turbo petrol engine + 48V mild hybrid It will make global debut by December 2024 or early 2025 The new Swift Sport will be based on modified HEARTECT platform
Japanese automaker, Suzuki, had introduced the new-gen Swift hatchback in the global markets in December 2023. MSIL had launched the new Swift in our market in May 2024. Going by the previous records, it is inevitable that the popular model will receive a sporty & performance oriented variant - called the Swift Sport.
A new media report claims that the new Swift Sport could be revealed before the end of this year or in the first quarter of 2025. It will be powered by a 1.4-litre inline 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine + 48V mild hybrid setup. This powertrain is an all-new unit and will be different from the older engine that powers the previous-gen Swift Sport.

It is reportedly to offer a maximum power output of 150PS, which is supported by an additional 15PS motor. The torque output for the engine stands at 240Nm, while the electric motor offers an additional 6Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit.
The new Suzuki Swift Sport is likely to ride on a 2450mm long wheelbase, which is the same as the regular Swift. The hot hatchback is expected to have a weight of 960kg, offering an excellent power-to-weight ratio. It will be designed and developed on Suzuki's HEARTECT platform, which is likely to be modified to accommodate a more powerful engine. It is likely to measure around 3990mm in length, 1750mm in width and 1500mm in height.
The existing Maruti Suzuki Swift features a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that churns out 81bhp of power and 111.7Nm of torque. The India-spec model is offered with a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. In the global market, the Swift hatchback gets a CVT and a mild-hybrid system as well.
