The midsize SUV segment is all set to receive three all-new products - the Tata Sierra, New-gen Kia Seltos and the third-generation Renault Duster. These SUVs will directly challenge the dominance of the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara in the mid-sized category. Let’s talk about the launch details of these top 3 upcoming mid-sized SUVs in our market by January 2026 -

Scheduled to be launched on November 25, 2025, the Tata Sierra will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV in our market. The SUV will be based on a front-wheel-drive monocoque platform and will first come with petrol and diesel powertrains. Its EV version is expected to launch in late December 2025 or early 2026.
The lower-spec Sierra is likely to be powered by a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The higher trims are expected to get the all-new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine which will also power the Harrier and Safari. The diesel version could get either a 1.5L turbo unit or a 2.0L turbo unit.

Kia will launch the second generation Seltos SUV in our market in December 2025. The SUV will initially come with petrol and diesel engine choices, while the hybrid version is expected to launch in 2027. The new Kia Seltos will receive substantial design and interior changes along with a longer list of features. The engine choices will include a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel.

Renault has confirmed that the long-awaited third-generation Duster SUV will launch in our market on January 26, 2026. It will be produced at Renault’s Chennai based manufacturing plant. The new Duster will initially offered with a petrol engine; however, its hybrid version is also under development. It is likely to be powered by a 1.3L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. The lower-spec models could either receive a 1.5L NA petrol or a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine.
