Kia to Launch a New Midsize SUV to Rival Victoris and Bayon

Kia plans to launch a new 4.2 meter SUV in India A new 7-seater C-segment SUV is also under consideration  New midsize SUV to rival the Maruti Victoris and Hyundai Bayon

The Korean automaker, Kia is preparing to launch a wide range of new SUVs in the Indian market over the period of next couple of years. The company will launch the new Sorento 7-seater hybrid SUV on September 4, 2026. Adding to it, next-Gen Sonet and Carnival Hybrid will also join the lineup in near future.

A new media report claims that Kia is also exploring two new SUVs, including a midsized B segment model and a C-segment 7-seater model. The new B-segment SUV will sit right between the Syros and Seltos in Kia India’s lineup. On the other hand, the C-segment SUV will sit between the Seltos and Sorento. Both these models are reportedly to be launched in our market by 2028-29.

Kia will be following Hyundai's strategy to introduce an all-new Bayon SUV between the Venue and Creta. The new Kia Seltos is now a premium offering and measures close to 4.5 meters in length. This leaves enough gap between Syros and Seltos to add another model measuring around 4.2 meters long.

Details on the new SUV are yet to be revealed, but we expect the new Kia model to come with existing petrol and diesel engine options. The upcoming Hyundai Bayon will be powered by a 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a CNG version with an underbody CNG tank. Kia could simply follow the same strategy with the new midsized SUV. Moreover, Kia is reportedly developing a new hybrid system for smaller cars, including the next-gen Kia Sonet. The upcoming midsized SUV could also get the hybrid powertrain.
