Maruti Suzuki is preparing an electric MPV for India in 2027. The Fronx facelift is expected to debut on September 5, 2026. Toyota Innova Hycross facelift and new Baleno are expected in 2027.
Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are preparing to introduce several important new models in India over the next 6-12 months. The upcoming line-up includes Maruti Suzuki’s first electric MPV, the updated Fronx, the next-generation Baleno and the Toyota Innova Hycross facelift.
While some of these models are expected to bring new powertrain technology, others will focus on updated styling, features and improved technology. Here are four upcoming Maruti Suzuki and Toyota cars to watch out for.
Maruti Suzuki’s electric portfolio will expand beyond the e-Vitara with an all-electric MPV, internally believed to be codenamed YMC. The model is expected to arrive in India in 2027.
The electric MPV is likely to use Suzuki’s Heartect-e platform and could be offered with battery packs ranging from around 50kWh to 60kWh. With the larger battery, the claimed range could be around 500km.
The three-row MPV is expected to focus on practicality and could get features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, connected-car technology, wireless smartphone connectivity and Level 2 ADAS on higher variants. The Maruti electric MPV could be priced at around Rs 16 lakh-18 lakh.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift is expected to debut on September 5, 2026. The updated SUV could bring one of the biggest changes to the Fronx since its introduction, with the addition of Maruti’s new in-house strong-hybrid system.
The hybrid setup is expected to be paired with the 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine and could offer strong fuel efficiency. The existing 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine is also expected to continue, although the final powertrain line-up has not yet been confirmed.
Feature updates could include a larger infotainment screen, 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats and wider availability of six airbags.
The next-generation Maruti Baleno is expected to arrive in 2027 and could bring a major overhaul to the premium hatchback. The new Baleno is expected to receive significant exterior design changes, with styling cues potentially inspired by Suzuki’s global models.
The cabin is also expected to get a complete redesign. Highlights could include a larger infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, panoramic camera system and a more advanced ADAS package on higher variants.
The next-generation Baleno could also benefit from the same powertrain developments expected for the Fronx facelift, including Maruti’s new strong-hybrid technology.
Toyota is expected to introduce the Innova Hycross facelift in 2027. The popular MPV could receive several styling and feature updates while retaining its existing mechanical package.
The facelift is expected to get a redesigned front fascia, updated LED lighting, revised bumpers and new alloy wheels. Changes at the rear are likely to be more subtle. Inside, Toyota could add a larger infotainment screen, upgraded upholstery, additional connected-car features and further improvements to the ADAS system.
The mechanical setup is expected to remain unchanged. The Innova Hycross should continue with its 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain. The hybrid version currently produces a combined 186 PS and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.24kmpl. An e-CVT gearbox is expected to continue handling transmission duties.
