Mahindra posted 50 per cent YoY sales growth in Aug 2027 Most of the carmakers posted positive sales growth
Despite global crisis and the United States and Iran war, India has posted an impressive 7.8 per cent GDP growth in the first quarter of FY2027. Similarly, car manufacturers are also posting positive sales despite the global crisis and supply chain constraints. Automakers have released their sales numbers for the month of August 2026, and most of the brands have posted positive sales growth.

The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra has released its sales numbers for August 2026, registering positive growth across its SUV, commercial vehicle and export businesses. In the domestic market, Mahindra sold 59,257 SUVs last month compared to 39,399 units in August 2025, registering a staggering Year-on-Year sales growth of 50 percent. However, Mahindra’s MoM (Month-on-Month) sales declined marginally by 1.32%.
Year-to-date domestic passenger vehicle or SUV sales stood at 2,94,050 units as against 2,41,337 units in the same period last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 22 percent. Mahindra exported 6054 vehicles, including SUVs, LCV, three wheelers and others in August 2026 compared to 3548 units in the corresponding month last year, resisting a YoY growth of 71 per cent.
Hyundai Sales August 2026
Hyundai Motor India has recorded a total monthly sales, including domestic and exports, of 65796 units in August 2026, registering a YoY sales growth of 8.8 per cent. The total sales comprised domestic sales of 54,396 units and exports of 11,400 units. The brand’s domestic sales posted a year-on-year sales growth of 23.6 per cent.
Commenting on August 2026 sales results, Mr. Tarun Garg, MD & CEO - HMIL, said, “We continue to sustain strong growth momentum in FY2027, with domestic sales growing by 12.6% YoY during the April-August period. Our August domestic sales of 54,396 units (+23.6% YoY), the highest-ever figure for any August month, reflect the popularity of Hyundai’s versatile product portfolio. While total exports in August were impacted by logistical constraints arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the broader geo-political environment during the month, we remain optimistic that export demand will continue to be strong in the coming months as the geo-political situation improves.”
JSW MG Motor India Sales August
JSW MG Motor India has posted a wholesale sales of 7508 units in August 2026, reported a year-on-year growth of 14 per cent. The company claims that the positive growth is backed by positive demand across its internal combustion engine (ICE) and new energy vehicle (NEV) portfolios.
The company has recently launched the MG Hector Tomahawk, its first SUV based on the new ADAPT multi-new energy vehicle platform. The SUV is available in electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle variants. Delivers for the Tomahawk EV is scheduled to commence in September, while test drives and deliveries of the PHEV version are set to begin in November 2026.
