XUV 7XO scored 30.76 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection Test 44.97 out of 49 points in the Child Occupant Protection Test
The Mahindra XUV 7XO has secured a full five-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests. The top-spec AX7 diesel 7-seater Automatic and AX7 Diesel 4WD automatic were crash tested in July 2026. The safety rating now applicable across all variants, spanning both the petrol and diesel trims in manual and automatic variants.
The SUV scored 30.76 units out of 32 points in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) test and 44.97 out of 49 points in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) test.

Frontal offset deformable barrier test: 14.76 points out of 16
Side-movable deformable barrier test: 16 points out of 16
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the XUV 7XO shows good protection to driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet. The protection to the chest and tibia was found adequate. The co-driver received good protection for all critical parts, except for the adequate protection to tibiae.
In the side-movable barrier test, the passenger head, chest, abdomen and pelvis reported good protection. In the side pole impact test, the SUV offered ‘OK’ protection to driver and passenger.

Vehicle assessment score - 9 out of 13
For the COP tests, the XUV 7XO child seats for both the 18-month and 3-year old dummies were rearward-facing. In the frontal crash test on the 18-month-old dummy scores 7.97 points out of 8, and for the 3-year-old dummy, it received a full 8 out of 8 points. Both dummies scored a full 4 out of 4 points in the side crash test. The SUV received a CRS installation score of 12 out of 12, but lost 4 points in the vehicle assessment score. The overall COP score stands for 44.97 points out of 49.
For safety and security, the SUV gets 6 airbags, hill-hold and hill-descent assist, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, traction control and ESC. It also gets LEVEL 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a 360-degree surround view camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
