Car sales in India have reported a massive jump in October 2024, thanks to festive season demand, discounts, and new products. The rise in demand is fuelled by the massive reduction in car prices, thanks to the new GST 2.0 norms. Most of the brands witnessed a sharp jump in MoM and YoY sales. Maruti Suzuki emerged as the clear winner. However, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Mahindra did extremely well to capture the next 3 spots in the list of top carmakers in India in October 2025.
Tata Motors has achieved a total sales of 61,295 units in the month of October 2025 as against 48,423 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 26.6 percent. The company has also recorded its highest-ever EV sales of 9,286 units last month, reporting a YoY sales jump of 73.4 percent.
Tata Motors has sold over 47,000 units of SUVs, achieving the highest-ever 77 percent share in monthly sales. Nexon demand increases massively, as it is reported to get 50% YoY volume growth. Tata Motors sold 7,000 units of the Harrier and Safari in October 2025.

Mahindra has created history, as it recorded highest-ever monthly SUV sales of 71,624 units in October 2025. The company has reported an impressive YoY sales growth of 31 percent. Total vehicle sales, including commercial vehicles and exports, stood at 120,142 units, reporting a 26% YoY sales growth. Total exports, meanwhile, grew 15 per cent to 4,015 units during the month. In the domestic market, Mahindra sold 66,800 SUVs in October 2025.
“In October, we achieved SUV sales of 71,624 units, a growth of 31 per cent, which is the highest SUV sales we have clocked ever in a month,” said Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd.

Commenting on HMIL’s sales performance in October 2025, Mr. Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director & Chief Operating Officer, HMIL said, “October 2025 was a month driven by the festivals of Dussehra, Dhanteras and Diwali, further complimented by the positive impact of GST 2.0 reforms. This provided a significant boost to the Indian automotive industry. At Hyundai Motor India, we witnessed robust market demand and high consumer enthusiasm leading to second highest monthly sales of our formidable SUV duo – the Hyundai CRETA and VENUE combined, with 30,119 units sold. We expect to accelerate this momentum with the upcoming launch of all-new Hyundai VENUE, which is already open for bookings. With its refreshed design, advanced premium features and segment-leading technology and safety, we are confident that the all-new Hyundai VENUE will redefine benchmarks in the compact SUV space.”

Toyota has recorded its highest ever monthly sales in October 2025. The company dispatched a total of 42,892 vehicles last month as against 39,845 units in October 2024, reporting a YoY sales growth of 39 percent. This number includes 40,257 domestic sales while 2635 units were shipped to export markets.
The company has reported a MoM sales increase of 38 percent, as it sold 31,091 vehicles in September 2025. Commenting on the sales, Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, said, “Our growth stands as a testament to the seamless synergies across our operations and the unwavering commitment to customer-centricity. The recently introduced festive editions of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder Aero Edition and the 2025 Fortuner Leader Edition have received tremendous appreciation for their unique styling and premium value proposition. These models are available for booking and delivery across authorized dealerships. Our collaboration with Drum Tao has further heightened customer excitement and engagement.”
