It is no secret that Ford is planning to make a comeback to India; however, no date has been finalized. What's interesting is that the American brand will introduce the new-gen Ford Endeavour, globally known as Ford Everest. A new media report claims that the SUV will come with a bigger capacity engine, which will be its USP in the market.
New Ford Endeavour 2025 will be a direct rival to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq. The new model is reportedly to be offered with two engine options - a 2.0L turbo diesel and a 3.0L V6 diesel.
The new Ford Everest is likely to be assembled in India and is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre, bi-turbo diesel engine. For people not in the know, Ford is producing the 2.0 diesel engine in India for export. The new model is likely to be powered by a larger 3.0-litre diesel V6 engine, which is offered in markets like Australia. This powertrain also powers the Ranger pickup and the Ford F150 in the US.
The 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine is capable of producing 250hp at 3,250rpm and a peak torque of 600Nm between 1750-2250rpm. The engine offers bigger torque and power than the Toyota Fortuner's 2.8L turbo diesel engine. Moreover, it will offer better refinement and smoothness compared to its Japanese rival.
The powertrain is currently manufactured in South Africa at Struandale Engine plant, where both inline and 'V' engines are made together. This engine uses a single, large variable nozzle turbo, and dual overhead camshafts. The new Ford Endeavour is likely to be offered with both 2.0L turbo diesel and 3.0L V6 diesel engines.
The new-gen Endeavour will be called the Ford Endeavour in our market. While no date has been set for the return of the SUV into our market; however, media reports suggest that the SUV could arrive in our market in late 2025 or early 2026. Ford is aiming to make full use of the Government's 2500-unit import rule. The Government of India has allowed automakers to import 2,500 units without going through a homologation process.
The new Everest or Endeavour will be launched as a CBU or CKD model, which will attract higher import tax. It is estimated to cost somewhere around Rs 70 lakh to Rs 80 lakh. The new Ford Everest will come as a premium alternative to the Toyota Fortuner. The bigger engine will help Ford to justify the elevated price tag of the new Everest.
