Hyundai Casper Trademarked in India: A Santro Replacement?

Hyundai has recently trademarked the Casper name in India. This car was first revealed as an entry-level SUV for South Korea in 2021. Now, the company is planning to bring Casper for Indian customers. However, it is yet to be confirmed.

Hyundai Casper: What We Know So Far?

The Casper is considered a replacement for the discontinued Santro. Although Santro was a hatchback, this upcoming Casper is likely to be a micro SUV which will sit below Exter.

In addition, the global-spec Casper is sold with dimensions of 3595 mm in length, 1595 mm in width, and 1575 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2400mm. It is about 220 mm shorter than the Exter in length.

Design and Features

The global-spec Casper highlights an attractive mesh grille, prominent bumper, circular headlamps, and top-mounted LED DRLs. The side profile features thick body cladding, roof rails, and sporty alloy wheels. The rear profile carries the same lighting setup as the front.

Moving on to the inside, the car features a minimalistic design comprising features like a two-spoke steering wheel, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and ADAS features.

Specifications

Globally, Hyundai Casper is powered by a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol (85 bhp) and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol (99 bhp). Both engine options are mated with manual and AMT gearbox.
