Hyundai Motor India is all set to take the wraps off the Creta Electric, the brand’s showstopper at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. It will be the first mass-market electric car from Hyundai, which will go on sale with its price announcement on 17th January at the Auto Expo. The South Korean automaker will also showcase a couple of its global products including the Staria MPV and the Ioniq 9 electric SUV. As of now, there is no official word on India launch of both these models. The Hyundai Staria and Ioniq 9 are likely to be displayed as halo products.
The Staria is a people mover, which was first introduced in 2021 in multiple global markets including Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Russia and Singapore. Globally, the MPV is offered with the 2.2L VGT diesel and 3.5L Smartstream MPI petrol engines, delivering power worth 175bhp and 268bhp, respectively. While the diesel engine gets a 6-speeed manual and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the petrol motor comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission only.
Dimensionally, the Hyundai MPV measures 5,253mm in length, 1,997mm in width and 1,990mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,273mm. The Staria is being offered with multiple seating arrangements including 7,8,9 and 11-seater, depending on the variant and market. Interestingly, its Premium variant come with seats that automatically adjust as per the passenger’s body weight. It also gets dual-tone Gray and Brown and Gary and Light Gray interior themes along with Black, Black and Beige and Black and Blue interior colour schemes.
The Hyundai MPV has angular and tall stance. Upfront, it features a wide signature grille with two vertically positioned rectangular LED headlamps and a full width LED DRL strip. The MPV’s Premium variant has been assembled with 18-inch wheels with diamond patterns. The tinted brass chrome on the wheels, wing mirrors and door handles complements its overall appearance. At the back, the Staria has Parametric Pixel rear lamp.
The Staria is one of the most feature-packed people movers. It gets a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a push button gear selector, ambient lighting, reclining second row seats with one-touch “relaxation mode”, six airbags, forward collision avoidance assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, safe exit assist and rear occupant alert.
Seeing the growing demand for hybrid cars, popular mass-market car manufacturers like Kia, Hyundai, Mahindra and Renault are planning to launch hybrid SUVs in India.
