Mahindra SUVs Order Backlog Down to 1.78 Lakh - Thar, Scorpio, XUV700

Mahindra has announced that its order backlogs have fallen by nearly one-fifth to 1.78 lakh units from 2.22 lakh units in the past 3 months. The order backlogs for the Thar and Scorpio twins dropped by about 30 per cent; however, the decline in order backlog is smaller for the XUV700 and Bolero twins. 

The Mahindra Thar currently has an order backlog of 42,000 units, which is a significant drop of 17000 units. The company has increased the production by about 4,000 units a month to meet the rising demand. In fact, the Thar 2WD Thar commands a waiting period of around 2 to 2.5 months. The company will have to face new challenges as the new 5-door Thar, called the Thar Roxx, will be introduced on August 15, 2024. 

Mahindra has an order backlog of about 58,000 units of the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N SUVs. The order backlog dropped to 58K from 86,000 units in the past 3 months. The company has received close to 12,000 bookings for the new Scorpio twins in June 2024. 

The Mahindra XUV 3XO compact SUV has been receiving an overwhelming response from buyers. The SUV currently has an order backlog of 55,000 units, which is an increase of 5,000 units. In fact, Mahindra received about 20,000 new bookings for the XUV 3XO last month. Production of the small SUV and the XUV400 have been increased to meet the rising demand. 

Mahindra is now producing 10,000 units of the XUV700 SUV to clear the order backlogs. The SUV currently has pending orders of 13,000, while the monthly bookings stand at 8,000 units.
