Mahindra is all set to launch its first fully electric car - the XUV.e9 in the second quarter of 2025. This is basically the electric SUV-coupe version of the successful XUV700. Ahead of its official launch, the electric SUV has been spotted testing several times on roads, dropping hints at its unique design language and tech-loaded interior.
Here is what we know so far about the XUV700 Coupe SUV:
Previous sightings have revealed that the XUV.e9 electric coupe SUV will flaunt its all-new design language with sharp-looking elements. Upfront, it will highlight a blanked-off grille, a full-width light bar, split headlamp setup. It will run on the 19-inch aero-patterned alloy wheels. At the back, it will feature dynamic turn indicators, integrated into the taillamps. The charging flap will be integrated beneath the connected taillamps. Overall, the visual appeal of the XUV700 coupe SUV will be bold, modern, and unique.
Mahindra XUV.e9 will measure 4,790 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,690 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. The interesting point is that the XUV.e8 will be a 7-seater model while the XUV.e9 (which is longer than the XUV.e8) will have a 5-seater layout.
The interior of the XUV.e9 will provide comfortable seats with lumbar & thigh support. It will have ample space with air-con blowers. In terms of features, Mahindra will offer a two-spoke steering wheel and three integrated displays for infotainment, a passenger-side display, and a digital instrument cluster. It will get a new Head-Up Display with augmented navigation, EV-specific connected car technology and sound packages developed by AR Rahman.
The XUV700 coupe will also receive a Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, multiple airbags, and other standard safety features.
Mahindra is going to use the all-new INGLO platform for its range of upcoming electric SUVs. It will offer two types of batteries; Blade and Prismatic. The electric SUV is expected to carry a battery pack of 60-80kWh. The BEV can offer a maximum range of over 500 km. As for the charging time, it will take around half an hour to charge from 0-80 percent. Mahindra might also offer either RWD or AWD.
Mahindra will aggressively price its upcoming electric SUV. The same strategy will also be followed for the other models coming under the Born Electric (BE) and XUV range. Expected to be priced from Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom), the XUV.e9 will rival the Hyundai IONIQ 5, the upcoming Tata Safari EV, and Harrier EV.
