Mercedes-AMG GT SUV - Three Motors, 1,169bhp and 700km Range

GT 63 delivers up to 1,169bhp and 2,000Nm. Larger battery versions offer a claimed 700km range. Three variants: GT 53, GT 55 and GT 63.

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled its new all-electric GT SUV, bringing sports car performance to a large, five-seat SUV. The new model will be offered in three variants: GT 53, GT 55 and GT 63. The range-topping GT 63 produces up to 1,169bhp, while the larger battery versions offer a claimed driving range of up to 700km on a single charge.

The new SUV is the first full-size SUV developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG. It is based on the brand's AMG.EA high-performance electric platform and combines a powerful electric drivetrain with advanced suspension and fast-charging technology.

Mercedes-AMG GT SUV - Power and Performance

The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV will be available with two electric powertrain setups, depending on the variant. The entry-level GT 53 uses two electric motors, producing 544bhp and 800Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in a claimed 4.2 seconds. The GT 55 gets a three-motor setup that produces 816bhp and 1,860Nm of torque. The top-spec GT 63 also uses three electric motors, delivering up to 1,169bhp and 2,000Nm of torque.

Mercedes-AMG claims that the GT 63 can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 2.5 seconds. The SUV also gets the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, which adjusts power delivery to help improve traction and handling.

Mercedes-AMG GT SUV - Battery and Range

The electric SUV will be offered with two battery options. The GT 53 gets a 106kWh battery pack and has a claimed WLTP range of up to 668km. The GT 55 and GT 63 use a larger 128kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed range of up to 700km on a full charge. These figures are based on the WLTP testing cycle, and the actual range may vary depending on driving conditions and usage.

The SUV uses an 800V electrical architecture to support high-speed charging. With compatible DC charging equipment, the larger battery can support charging power of up to 710kW. Mercedes-AMG claims that the vehicle can add up to 450km of WLTP range in around 10 minutes under suitable conditions.

Mercedes-AMG GT SUV - Exterior Design

The new GT SUV combines the proportions of a large SUV with styling cues inspired by AMG sports cars. The exterior features an illuminated front grille, star-shaped daytime running lights and muscular wheel arches. A sloping roofline gives the SUV a sportier profile, while active aerodynamic elements and a deployable rear spoiler are designed to improve airflow and stability at higher speeds. The overall design focuses on balancing everyday practicality with the aggressive appearance expected from an AMG performance model.

Mercedes-AMG GT SUV - Interior and Features

Inside, the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV gets a driver-focused dashboard with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch central touchscreen. A 14-inch passenger display is also available as an option. Other features include a panoramic SKY CONTROL glass roof, ambient lighting and a Burmester 4D surround sound system. Buyers can also choose from a range of personalisation options through Mercedes-AMG's Manufaktur programme.

The SUV also gets the newly developed AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+ suspension system. It uses active pitch and roll stabilisation to help control body movements while maintaining ride comfort. Rear-wheel steering is another feature designed to improve manoeuvrability and handling.

Mercedes-AMG GT SUV - Launch Timeline

The Mercedes-AMG GT 53 is scheduled to go on sale first, with the GT 55 and GT 63 expected to follow in spring 2027. The company has not yet confirmed an India launch timeline or local pricing. With up to 1,169bhp, a claimed range of 700km and high-speed charging capability, the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV aims to combine electric performance with the space and practicality of a full-size SUV.
