Mercedes GLC Electric India Launch - Big Battery, 800V Tech and 715 km Range

Mercedes-Benz is set to launch the GLC Electric in India on November 4, 2026. The electric SUV will initially be available in the GLC 400 4Matic version and will be locally assembled at the company’s Chakan facility in Pune.

The new GLC Electric combines a large 94 kWh battery with an 800V electrical architecture. It gets two electric motors producing 489 PS and 800 Nm, while the claimed WLTP range goes up to 715 km. Bookings for the electric SUV are expected to open next month.

Mercedes GLC Electric Gets 94 kWh Battery

The GLC 400 4Matic comes with a 94 kWh usable battery. Mercedes-Benz claims a WLTP range of between 568 km and 715 km, depending on the specification. The electric SUV has a claimed energy consumption of 14.9-18.9 kWh per 100 km. Its battery uses silicon oxide material blended into the graphite anode, with a cell volumetric energy density of 680 Wh per litre. A multi-source heat pump is also available. It can draw heat from the electric drive, high-voltage battery and outside air to help manage the vehicle’s thermal requirements.

489 PS and 800 Nm From Two Motors

Power comes from two permanently excited synchronous electric motors, with one motor positioned on each axle. This gives the GLC 400 4Matic an all-wheel-drive setup. The combined output stands at 489 PS and 800 Nm. Mercedes-Benz claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds, while its top speed is limited to 210 kmph. The rear electric motor uses a two-speed gearbox with 11:1 and 5:1 ratios. The front motor can disconnect when extra traction is not required, which can help improve efficiency.

800V System Enables Faster Charging

One of the major highlights of the GLC Electric is its 800V electrical architecture. The SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 330 kW. Mercedes-Benz claims that the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes under suitable conditions. A 10-minute charging session can add up to 305 km of claimed range.

The GLC Electric supports 11 kW AC charging as standard, while a 22 kW AC charging system will also be available. The SUV also features a new One-Box braking system. Its regenerative braking system can recover up to around 300 kW.

GLC Electric Gets Advanced Chassis Tech

The electric GLC uses a four-link front suspension and a multi-link rear axle. Mercedes-Benz will offer an optional Technology Package that adds Airmatic air suspension and intelligent damping. Rear-axle steering is also available with the package. The rear wheels can turn by up to 4.5 degrees, reducing the turning circle from 12.1 metres to 11.2 metres. This should make the SUV easier to manoeuvre in tighter spaces despite its size.

39.1-Inch MBUX Hyperscreen Inside

The cabin of the new GLC Electric gets a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. Mercedes-Benz says it is the largest display the company has fitted to a production model. The system runs on the new MB.OS software, which handles infotainment, charging, driver assistance and several vehicle functions. It also supports over-the-air software updates.

Practicality has not been overlooked either. The electric SUV offers 570 litres of boot space, which increases to 1,740 litres when the rear seats are folded. There is also a 128-litre storage compartment at the front.

Digital Light and Driver Assistance Features

The Mercedes GLC 400 4Matic gets the latest Digital Light system with micro-LED technology. It will also be equipped with the MB.Drive assistance package. Depending on the specification, the sensor setup can include up to 10 cameras, five radar sensors and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
