New Mercedes EVs Coming in Next 2 Years

Mercedes-Benz India to launch 6+ EVs in the next 2 years. CLA Electric kicks off the multi-segment EV lineup. Petrol and diesel models will continue alongside EVs.

Mercedes-Benz India is preparing to launch multiple electric vehicles over the next two years, with more than six EVs expected by 2027. The rollout has already begun with the CLA Electric, marking the start of a broader push to introduce electric options across the brand’s core model range.

The new strategy represents a shift from focusing only on high-end EVs to a multi-segment line-up, targeting luxury sedans and SUVs as EV adoption grows in India.

CLA Electric Leads the Way

The CLA Electric serves as the entry point to Mercedes-Benz’s next-generation EV portfolio. Built on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform with 800V electrical architecture and the latest MB.OS software, it will set the foundation for upcoming models in the range.

“The CLA is more of a technology play than a price play,” said Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, highlighting the importance of advanced tech in the EV rollout.

EVs Across SUVs and Sedans

Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce EVs across key segments, including the GLC EV and C-Class EV. The GLC EV will focus on SUV buyers, while the C-Class EV targets the luxury sedan market.

Iyer confirmed, “We will have an EV across every product category… from the A-Class to the S-Class.” Two additional EV launches are also expected in 2026, though the models have not yet been disclosed.

Petrol and Diesel Models to Continue

Mercedes-Benz will continue offering petrol and diesel vehicles alongside EVs. Iyer explained that the choice depends on customer preference and total cost of ownership. Currently, luxury EVs are often secondary vehicles, with adoption influenced by price, incentives, and resale value. Diesel models, particularly SUVs, still account for a large share of sales in India.
