New Mercedes-Maybach S 580e launched at Rs 3.35 crore. Gets 585hp and up to 98km electric range. Only 30 units allocated for India initially.
Mercedes-Benz has launched the new Maybach S-Class facelift in India at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom). It is available in the S 580e plug-in hybrid version and is the brand's first non-AMG plug-in hybrid model in India. The new Maybach S-Class gets a 3.0-litre petrol engine, an electric motor and a 22kWh battery. It produces 585hp and 750Nm of torque. The sedan can also travel up to 98km on electric power alone. Only 30 units have been allocated for the first batch in India.
Here are the top five highlights of the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
The biggest update on the new Maybach S-Class is its powertrain. The S 580e gets a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 443hp and 560Nm, while the electric motor makes 160hp and 480Nm. The combined output stands at 585hp and 750Nm. All-wheel drive is standard. The sedan gets three driving modes: Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold. It also has adjustable energy recovery, including a one-pedal driving function.

The new Mercedes-Maybach S 580e can travel up to 98km on electric power alone, according to Mercedes-Benz. Its 22kWh battery supports 11kW AC charging and up to 60kW DC fast charging. The sedan can also reach a top speed of 140kph when running in electric mode. This allows the Maybach to cover short trips using electric power, while the petrol engine can be used for longer journeys.
The Maybach S-Class is mainly about rear-seat comfort, and the new model continues this focus. The India-spec S 580e comes with four seats and a full-length business console between the rear seats. The rear seats can recline up to 43 degrees and get heating, ventilation and massage functions. The Rear Comfort Package Plus is offered as standard. It adds fold-out tables, wireless charging pads, rear ambient lighting and temperature-controlled cup holders. Rear passengers also get two separate smartphone-style remotes to control different cabin functions.
The new Maybach S-Class gets several high-end technology features. The dashboard features the MBUX Superscreen, which combines the central display with a separate screen for the front passenger. The driver gets a 3D display, while an augmented reality head-up display and augmented reality navigation are also offered. For music, the sedan gets a 31-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system. It also comes with two rear entertainment screens and wireless headsets.
The facelift also brings styling changes. The front grille is around 20 percent larger and gets illuminated detailing, vertical Maybach slats and an illuminated Maybach wordmark. The Mercedes star on the bonnet is illuminated, while the updated headlamps get Digital Light technology and three-pointed star daytime running lights. Rose gold details add to the Maybach-specific look. The Maybach S-Class is 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class. It gets 20-inch forged Maybach wheels with a special Mercedes logo that remains upright as the wheels rotate. The illuminated Maybach logo on the D-pillar and updated LED tail-lamps complete the exterior changes.
The new Mercedes-Maybach S 580e is priced at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom). The first batch is limited to 30 units. The new model brings a major change to the Maybach S-Class range by replacing the outgoing 4.0-litre V8 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
