New Mercedes S-Class Hybrid Set for India Launch

Mercedes-Benz will launch the updated S-Class Hybrid in India on June 15. The luxury sedan gets a fresh design, AI features and bigger screens. New plug-in hybrid setup offers 100 km electric-only driving range.

Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch the updated S-Class Hybrid in India on June 15, 2026. The luxury sedan was revealed globally earlier this year and now the facelifted version is finally heading to the Indian market with major updates inside and out.

The new S-Class will initially arrive in the S 450e plug-in hybrid form and is expected to be priced between Rs 2 crore and Rs 2.4 crore (ex-showroom). Along with a refreshed design, the sedan also gets more technology, advanced safety features and a new hybrid powertrain.

Fresh Design with More Road Presence

The updated S-Class gets a sharper and more premium design compared to the outgoing model. At the front, Mercedes has added a larger illuminated grille with chrome-finished star elements. The headlamps are also redesigned and now feature three-pointed star LED daytime running lights.

Mercedes says the new Digital Light setup now offers around 40 percent more illumination thanks to the latest micro LED technology. Another standout addition is the illuminated Mercedes logo placed on the bonnet.

The luxury sedan also gets newly designed alloy wheels and fresh exterior colour options, including shades from Mercedes’ premium Manufaktur range.

At the rear, the updated tail-lamps now feature the signature three-pointed star lighting pattern, giving the sedan a more modern look.

Cabin Gets Bigger Screens and More Tech

The biggest changes can be seen inside the cabin. Mercedes has redesigned the dashboard with a cleaner and more futuristic layout.

The new S-Class now comes with a large 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a separate 12.3-inch passenger display.

The system runs on Mercedes’ latest MB.OS software architecture and upgraded MBUX interface. Since the sedan is now a software-defined vehicle, Mercedes can introduce future updates through over-the-air software upgrades.

AI Features and Rear Entertainment

Mercedes has added several new technology features in the facelifted S-Class. The sedan now gets AI-based assistant functions, Google-powered navigation, video calling support, facial recognition and active cabin monitoring.

Rear passengers also get 13.1-inch entertainment screens mounted behind the front seats. The updated cabin focuses heavily on comfort and digital convenience.

The sedan continues with air suspension as standard, while an advanced active self-levelling suspension is available as an option. Rear-wheel steering is also offered with both 4.5-degree and 10-degree setups.

More Advanced Safety Package

The facelifted S-Class gets an upgraded ADAS suite with more sensors and cameras for improved safety and driver assistance functions.

The system now uses 10 cameras, 5 radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors to support multiple active safety technologies.

New Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain

Mercedes-Benz will first launch the S-Class facelift in the S 450e plug-in hybrid version for India.

The sedan combines a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline-six engine with an electric motor. Together, the setup produces 435 hp and 680 Nm of torque.

The hybrid system uses a 22 kWh battery pack that allows an electric-only driving range of around 100 km.

Power is sent to the rear wheels, and Mercedes claims the luxury sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.

Petrol Version Could Arrive Later

Mercedes is also expected to launch a petrol-powered variant at a later stage. This version will use the same 3.0-litre engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system instead of the plug-in hybrid setup.

The petrol model is expected to produce 404 hp and 500 Nm while using Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
