7-Seater Electric SUVs and MPVs Coming to India

Maruti YMC and Tata Safari EV bring family-friendly electric SUVs. MG 520 and VinFast Limo Green expand 7-seater EV options. Ranges of 450-600 km make these EVs practical for families.

India’s electric vehicle market is growing fast, and now there are more options beyond compact city EVs. Several brands are gearing up to launch seven-seat electric SUVs and MPVs, making family trips and long drives easier. These models are expected to hit Indian roads by mid-2027, offering more choices in the expanding EV segment.

1. Maruti YMC

Maruti Suzuki is testing a three-row electric MPV, codenamed YMC, on Indian roads. Built on the same platform as the e-Vitara, it takes styling cues from the SUV, especially at the front and along the sides. The YMC will likely be available in 6- or 7-seat layouts and could cover up to 525 km on a single charge. A Toyota-badged version may follow shortly after its launch, giving the model wider availability.

2. Tata Safari EV

The Tata Safari.ev will be the electric version of the Tata Safari. It will come in 6- and 7-seat layouts and is expected to launch in late October 2026. Sharing the batteries and powertrains of the Tata Harrier.ev, the Safari.ev could deliver up to 600 km of range, making it the longest-range three-row electric SUV in this lineup.

3. VinFast Limo Green

The VinFast Limo Green is a 7-seat MPV aimed mainly at ride-hailing and commercial services. It is based on the VF MPV 7, which launched in India earlier this year, with minor tweaks like 18-inch alloy wheels instead of 19-inch ones. The vehicle is expected to deliver a claimed range of 450 km, making it suitable for both personal and commercial use.

4. MG 520

JSW MG Motor is preparing the MG 520, a 7-seat SUV expected to launch in October. This SUV is a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560 from China. The MG 520 will come in electric and plug-in hybrid versions, with the electric variant offering up to 500 km of range. It will compete with other three-row EVs like the Mahindra XEV 9S.
