New AMG E 54 Launched with Plug-in hybrid engine Electric only range of 100km, 0-100kmph in 3.8 seconds Priced at Rs 1.45 crore
Mercedes-Benz has launched the new Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ in the Indian market. It is available in two variants - Performance Edition and Racing Edition - priced at Rs 1.45 crore and Rs 1.48 crore, respectively, ex-showroom. This version debuts the brand’s first electrified AMG E-Class model for the Indian customers. The AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ pairs a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine with an electric motor, offering a combined power output of 585hp.

The Mercedes AMG E 53 Hybrid is packed with a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing 449hp, paired with a 120 kW electric motor integrated into the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission. The combined power and torque output stands at 585 hp and 750 Nm, respectively. The power rises to 612 hp with the RACE START function. It is claimed to achieve 0-100 kmph acceleration in just 3.8 seconds.
It gets a 28.6 kWh battery pack (21.2 kWh usable) that enables purely electric driving at speeds of up to 140 km/h, and offers an electric-only range of 100 kilometres (WLTP). An 11 kW Onboard AC charger is standard. Using a 60kW DC unit, the 400V lithium-ion battery takes 20 minutes for a 10-80 percent charging status. Using a 11kW AC unit, the battery can achieve 0-100 percent charging status in 2.25 hours.
The AMG E 53 HYBRID comes with AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension, developed and tuned specifically for the model, alongside AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. Drivers can choose between AMG DYNAMIC SELECT programmes, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery and Individual, alongside two hybrid-specific programmes, “Electric” and “Battery Hold,” which manage how and when the battery charge is used.
The Mercedes-AMG E 53 comes with an AMG-specific front grille with vertical slats, a redesigned bumper with larger air intakes, and revised front fenders which are now wider by 11mm. The E 53 gets flush-fitting door handles, red-coloured brake callipers, AMG-specific side skirts and sporty 20-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the AMG E 53 gets a boot-lid spoiler, and a sporty bumper that houses a diffuser and quad round exhaust tips.
Inside the cabin, the E 53 gets AMG-spec steering wheel, door sills, and floor mats. It is paid with a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital instrument unit, a Burmester surround sound system, a head-up display, a wireless phone charger, sports seats with heating function at the front, automatic AC, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, and a driver monitoring camera.
