Mercedes-Benz has launched the new Maybach S 580e in India at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom). The luxury sedan is the brand's first non-AMG plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in the country. It comes with a 3.0-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 22kWh battery. The new Maybach S-Class facelift produces 585hp and 750Nm of torque. It also offers an electric-only driving range of up to 98km. The first batch for India is limited to 30 units.
The new Mercedes-Maybach S 580e uses a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 443hp and 560Nm of torque, while the electric motor delivers 160hp and 480Nm. The combined output stands at 585hp and 750Nm. An all-wheel-drive system comes as standard.
The sedan can cover up to 98km on electric power alone, as claimed by Mercedes-Benz. It can also reach a top speed of 140kph in electric mode. The S 580e offers three driving modes: Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold. It also gets an energy recovery system that helps recharge the battery while driving. For charging, the sedan supports 11kW AC charging and up to 60kW DC fast charging. Air suspension and rear-axle steering are also offered as standard.

The new Maybach S-Class focuses on comfort, especially for rear-seat passengers. The India-spec model comes with a four-seat layout and a full-length business console between the two rear seats. The rear seats can recline up to 43 degrees and offer heating, ventilation and massage functions. The Rear Comfort Package Plus adds fold-out tables, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting and temperature-controlled cup holders. Rear passengers also get two separate smartphone-style remotes to control the cabin's comfort and entertainment features.
At the front, the sedan features the MBUX Superscreen setup, which includes a central infotainment display and a separate screen for the front passenger. The driver gets a 3D display. Other features include an augmented reality head-up display, augmented reality navigation, a 31-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system and two rear entertainment screens with wireless headsets. The cabin gets Nappa leather upholstery in crystal white and silver grey pearl, along with piano lacquer trim and a leather-covered roof liner.
The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class facelift gets several design updates, including a larger front grille and new lighting details. The grille is around 20 percent larger and features illuminated detailing, vertical Maybach slats and an illuminated Maybach wordmark. The Mercedes star on the bonnet is also illuminated.
The updated headlamps feature Mercedes-Benz's latest Digital Light technology and three-pointed star daytime running lights. Rose gold accents and Maybach logos add to the distinctive look. The Maybach S-Class is 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class. The India-spec model gets 20-inch forged Maybach alloy wheels with a special Mercedes logo that stays upright as the wheels turn. An illuminated Maybach logo on the D-pillar and updated LED tail-lamps complete the exterior changes.
The new Mercedes-Maybach S 580e is priced at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom) in India. Mercedes-Benz has allocated only 30 units for the first batch.
