The new Mercedes-Benz GLA is now available as an EV. It offers a claimed driving range of up to 657 km. The SUV gets a fresh design and a new triple-screen cabin.
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the third-generation GLA, bringing an all-electric version of its compact luxury SUV for the first time. Built on the company's new MMA platform, the GLA EV comes with a new design, a bigger cabin and a claimed driving range of up to 657 km.
The electric SUV is available in three global variants – GLA 250, GLA 250+ and GLA 350. Mercedes-Benz has also confirmed that a mild-hybrid petrol version will join the lineup in 2027.
The entry-level GLA 250 gets a 58 kWh LFP battery pack with a claimed WLTP range of 447 km.
The GLA 250+ and GLA 350 use a larger 85 kWh NMC battery pack, offering a claimed range of up to 657 km. Mercedes-Benz will also introduce a 71 kWh battery pack in early 2027.
The GLA EV supports 320 kW DC fast charging thanks to its 800-volt electrical system. According to Mercedes-Benz, the SUV can add up to 270 km of driving range in just 10 minutes using a compatible charger. It also supports 22 kW AC charging.

The GLA 250 comes with a single rear-mounted electric motor that produces 224 hp and 335 Nm.
The GLA 250+ also gets a single rear motor but delivers 272 hp and 335 Nm.
The top-spec GLA 350 features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that produces 354 hp and 515 Nm. Mercedes-Benz claims it can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 km/h.
The new GLA follows Mercedes-Benz's latest SUV design language.
At the front, the EV gets a closed grille with illuminated LED elements, while the new headlights feature the brand's signature star-shaped daytime running lights. The SUV also gets redesigned bumpers and a more upright stance.
At the rear, connected LED tail lamps stretch across the tailgate, while the updated bumper gives the SUV a cleaner look.
The new GLA rides on 18-inch to 20-inch alloy wheels and gets black body cladding to give it a stronger road presence.
Compared to the previous model, the third-generation GLA has grown in size.
It measures 4,565 mm in length, 1,873 mm in width and has a 2,790 mm wheelbase. That makes it 153 mm longer, 39 mm wider and gives it a 61 mm longer wheelbase than before.
The boot space has increased to 410 litres, while the electric version also gets a 107-litre front trunk (frunk) for extra storage.
Inside, the GLA EV gets a completely redesigned cabin with a cleaner layout.
The highlight is the optional MBUX Superscreen, which combines a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 14-inch passenger display.
The SUV also comes with a new three-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons, while most other functions are controlled through the touchscreen.
Other features include:
Depending on the variant, buyers can choose between fabric and leatherette upholstery.
Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the petrol-powered third-generation GLA will arrive globally in 2027.
It will be powered by a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions will be available.
Mercedes-Benz currently sells the facelifted second-generation GLA in India with a petrol engine, priced from Rs 51.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
The company has not announced when the third-generation GLA or the GLA EV will arrive in India. If launched, the electric version is expected to be priced above the current ICE model.
