585 bhp Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid Confirmed for India

Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid launches on July 23. Produces 585 bhp and 750 Nm. Offers over 100 km of electric-only range.

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ will launch in India on July 23. The performance sedan brings back the E 53 badge to the Indian market, but this time it comes with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The new model combines a powerful petrol engine with an electric motor, giving buyers strong performance along with the option to drive on electric power for daily use.

Powerful Engine With Hybrid Support

The new E 53 Hybrid is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol six-cylinder engine and an electric motor. Together, they produce 585 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. With the optional AMG Dynamic Plus Package and Race Start mode, the sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds. Its top speed is 280 kmph. Power is sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic gearbox and Mercedes' 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system.

Can Run on Electric Power

The E 53 Hybrid also comes with a 28.6 kWh battery pack. Mercedes says the car can travel more than 100 km using only electric power. It can also be driven in EV mode at speeds of up to 140 kmph. The battery supports 11 kW AC charging, while regenerative braking helps charge the battery while driving.

Gets AMG Performance Upgrades

Compared to the regular E-Class, the AMG version gets several changes to improve handling. It comes with adaptive suspension, active rear-wheel steering and a bigger braking system. Mercedes has also made changes to the chassis for better stability, especially during high-speed driving. These upgrades are designed to make the car more fun to drive without affecting everyday comfort.

Sporty Design Inside and Out

The E 53 Hybrid looks different from the standard E-Class. It gets an AMG grille with illuminated surrounds, larger air intakes, wider front wheel arches, sporty side skirts, a small rear spoiler and four exhaust tips. Inside, the cabin gets AMG sports seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, red contrast stitching and special AMG graphics on the infotainment system.
