Skoda Slavia facelift gets new features and an 8-speed automatic New Skoda Superb will return to India in 2027 with a diesel engine Volkswagen will launch a new locally made compact SUV
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has several important products lined up for the Indian market. The upcoming range includes two sedan facelifts, the return of a premium sedan and a new compact SUV. The Skoda Slavia facelift is the first of these models to arrive, while the Volkswagen Virtus facelift is expected in the coming months. The Skoda Superb will return in 2027, and Volkswagen will also launch a new sub-4-metre SUV.
Here is everything we know about these four upcoming Skoda and Volkswagen cars.
Skoda Slavia Facelift
The Skoda Slavia facelift is the first model in this upcoming line-up. Skoda unveiled the updated sedan in August, with bookings already open and deliveries expected around the festive season. The facelift gets a few styling changes rather than a major redesign. These include new LED headlamps, revised LED tail-lamps with sequential indicators and new alloy wheels. The cabin also gets some updates. The biggest change is to the automatic gearbox. The 1.0-litre TSI engine now gets an 8-speed torque-converter automatic, replacing the earlier 6-speed unit. The 1.5-litre TSI continues with the 7-speed DSG. Power figures remain unchanged at 115hp for the 1.0-litre engine and 150hp for the 1.5-litre unit. The Slavia facelift also gets a 360-degree camera, rear-seat massage function and a new-generation infotainment system with an AI Companion.

Skoda Superb Returns in 2027
The Skoda Superb is set to make a comeback in India in 2027. This time, the fourth-generation model will arrive as a completely built-up import, with deliveries expected from the second quarter of 2027. Skoda has already opened expressions of interest for the flagship sedan. The India-spec model will be offered in the Laurin & Klement specification. The Superb will also bring a diesel engine back to Skoda's Indian range. It will use a 2.0-litre TDI engine producing 150hp and 360Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The premium sedan will get features such as a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, three-zone climate control, ventilated and massaging front seats and a 14-speaker sound system.
Volkswagen Virtus Facelift
The Volkswagen Virtus is also due for a facelift. Test mules have already been spotted, suggesting that the updated sedan could arrive in the coming months. The changes are expected to focus on the exterior, with revised bumpers, updated lighting elements and new alloy wheel designs. Volkswagen is also expected to add more features and technology to the cabin. The existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI engines are expected to continue. Like the Slavia, the 1.0-litre TSI is likely to get the new 8-speed torque-converter automatic, replacing the current 6-speed unit. The 1.5-litre TSI should continue with the 7-speed DSG.
Volkswagen's New Compact SUV
The fourth upcoming model is a new sub-4-metre SUV from Volkswagen. The company has confirmed that the SUV will launch in India in 2027 and will be manufactured locally. The new SUV will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform. Reports suggest that it will share its underlying architecture with the Skoda Kylaq, although Volkswagen is expected to give it a different exterior design and positioning. The 1.0-litre TSI engine is expected to be part of the package. Local production and high levels of localisation will also help Volkswagen target the highly competitive sub-4-metre SUV segment.
