MG Motor India shared its plan for the highly anticipated Cyberster electric sports car. The convertible roadster was showcased at a Mumbai-based event today, marking the brand's return to the sports car domain after three decades. Exploring market options, the company is currently weighing customer perspectives on whether to introduce the vehicle as a high-end brand or present it through an exclusive retail outlet.
Though the official launch is pending, the Cyberster promises to be a modern tribute to MG's classic roadsters.
From front, the MG Cyberster features a very aerodynamic design. It provides a sculpted bumper with dual air intakes, leaf-inspired headlamps and a muscular hood. Being a convertible, one gets the open top attire alongside petal-inspired alloy wheels, integrating door handles, side skirts and pronounced rear haunches. Towards the rear, it gets arrow-shaped tail lights and a striking split diffuser.
Inside the MG Cyberster, luxury meets innovation seamlessly. The cabin comes finished in maroon, with premium materials being used. Further, there is a flat-bottom steering wheel embellished with numerous buttons. Its center console is more focused towards the driver featuring an infotainment screen, a drive selector, tactile controls for roof operation, and HVAC functions. Being a two-seater you will get comfortable seats for both the driver and the co-passenger.
In terms of dimensions, the sports car measures 4,533mm in length, 1,912mm in width, and 1,328mm in height having a wheelbase of 2,689mm.
The Cyberster is said to come in two variants. The basic one will feature a single motor setup towards the rear alongside a 64-kWh battery pack. Performance-wise this trim will deliver 308 bhp of power and will provide a range of 520 kms on a single full charge.
As for the top-spec variant, there will be two motors placed on each axle. Featuring a bigger 77-kWh battery pack, the version will produce 535 bhp with 725 Nm of peak torque. It will have a range of 580 kms on a single charge. From a performance point of view, the vehicle is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds which is faster than the Tesla Model Y which can achieve the same figures in 3.5 seconds.
