Mitsubishi Pajero will come as a luxury SUV It is likely to be based on the new Triton pick-up’s ladder-frame chassis The Pajero will use the brand's new four-wheel drive technology
A new media report claims that Mitsubishi is planning to revive the iconic Pajero nameplate. At an official event, a silhouette image of an off-road SUV was revealed by Mitsubishi Motors North America. This image was revealed when Mitsubishi North America was presenting their 5-year business plan "Momentum 2030".
While official details are yet to be revealed, media reports reveal that the next-gen Mitsubishi Pajero will be introduced as a luxury SUV. This strategy will be in-line with Mitsubishi's vision for the future. The company had announced the new Triton lifestyle pick-up in Thailand in 2023 and launched in Japan in February 2024. It is reported that the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero will be based on the same platform that underpins the Triton. The new SUV will come with advanced equipment and performance, an urban design with rugged styling elements, and a luxurious cabin. This is a ladder frame chassis, which is claimed to have increased bending rigidity by 60% and torsional rigidity by 40%. The new Mitsubishi Triton comes equipped with a new 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 201bhp and 470Nm of torque.
The same engine could be offered on the next Pajero. Moreover, the new Mitsubishi Pajero will receive an electrified powertrain. However, the vehicle could either receive a mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid or a pure battery EV. The SUV will use the brand's new four-wheel drive technology, which will make it a capable off-roader.
