Next-gen Jeep Renegade expected to arrive in 2028 New Jeep SUV for India to use Tata Sierra's ARGOS platform
Stellantis has revealed its future roadmap for the global markets at its 2026 Investor Day presentation. At the presentation, the company accidentally revealed a teaser image of an upcoming Jeep SUV. This SUV is reportedly to be the next generation Jeep Renegade, which is expected to be launched sometime in 2028. Few media suggests that the new teaser could preview the Jeep’s upcoming SUV for India, which will utilise Tata’s ARGOS platform.
The teaser shows a very square-shaped SUV finished in a green shade. Only a front three quarter view of the SUV is visible in the teaser, and world media speculates that this could be the next-gen Jeep Renegade. In 2024, Jeep officially confirmed the next-gen Renegade to arrive in 2027. This is highly unlikely to happen, as the SUV hasn’t been seen testing in any region. The new Renegade has been confirmed for South American markets, where it will join the new gen Compass and Commander.

The teaser shown at the press conference is likely to be the concept car, as it features large wheels and flashy headlights. These features are unlikely to be offered on the production model. Similar to the new Compass and Avenger, the SUV’s seven grille slots are illuminated at the ends and forms a thin optical assemblies. It has a squared-off front fascia with a massive skid plate. The sides with rounded proportions appears identical to the Compass, while the rear seems flat.
The next-gen Jeep Renegade will be based on the STLA platform, and will be equipped with mild-hybrid, strong hybrid and 100% electric powertrains. The SUV is expected to feature a 1.6 THP engine with two electric motors and a small battery pack. The first battery will act as a generator, while the second will drive the wheels. The company could also use the 1.3 T270 engine, which is currently offered in flex-fuel form.
Stellantis will use a Tata Motors platform to develop and manufacture an all-new Jeep SUV in India. The new SUV is reportedly to be based on the Tata’s ARGOS architecture that underpins the Tata Sierra. ARGOS (All-Terrain Ready, Omni-Energy and Geometry Scalable) is compatible with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains. Moreover, the architecture has been engineered to accommodate AWD drive. Not just the platform, the new Jeep SUV will use the 1.5-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine that powers the Sierra, Harrier and Safari.
