After the successful launch of Curvv ICE and Curvv EV, Tata Motors is planning to host another big launch with the electrified Harrier. The brand filed a design patent for the SUV in January 2024. Its closer-to-production model was also showcased at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show. The production-ready version is likely to be unveiled at the second edition of the BMS in January 2025. Ahead of its launch in the first half of 2025, here is what you can expect:
Note - It is confirmed that the Harrier SUV will also receive a petrol derivative, as the current model is only available in diesel. This could receive a new 1.5L T-GDI turbo petrol engine, which debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo.
From the design angle, the Harrier EV will look quite similar to the ICE-powered model. However, some EV-specific styling will be clearly visible such as the closed-off front grille. Besides, the electric SUV will feature connected LED lighting elements, aero-specific 5-spoke alloy wheels, a redesigned bumper, and a lot more.
Moving to the inside, the electric Harrier will come with the same feature list as its diesel-powered variant. The list comprises a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, dual-zone automatic AC, ventilated & powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof with mood lighting, and a gesture-enabled powered tailgate.
Tata Harrier EV will be based on Tata's Gen II EV architecture. This is a pure EV architecture named acti.ev which also underpins Punch EV and Curvv EV. The upcoming Harrier is expected to get multiple battery packs ranging from 60-80 kWh. It will also come with dual electric motors, one on front axle and other on the rear axle, to offer an All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) setup. A front-wheel-drive setup with a front-axle mounted electric motor will come as standard.
Although it is not confirmed, the Harrier SUV could offer an impressive range of over 500km. Besides, it is likely to get Vehicle-2-Load and Vehicle-2-Vehicle features.
