Tata Motors is all set to launch its Curvv SUVs on August 7. The homegrown brand has decided to give the Curvv a variety of powertrains including ICEs and two BEV options. While the internet is flooded with information on these cars, keep reading to find out how the two differ from each other. Pricing for ICE Curvv is expected to start from Rs. 10.50 lakh, while the EV’s pricing to start from Rs. 18.50 lakh.
Tata will offer two petrol engines and a diesel mill with the Curvv ICE. It has developed a new direct injection 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit belting out 123 bhp and 225 Nm of pull force. For budget-conscious buyers, the Curvv will borrow the Nexon’s 1.2-litre engine that belts out 120 bhp and 170 Nm. The diesel Curvv will be underpinned by a 1.5-litre block making 113 bhp and 260 Nm. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCA, which is a segment first for diesel cars in this class.
The electrified Curvv will get two battery options - 40 kWh and 55 kWh. A maximum range of 600 kilometres is expected from the latter and may also feature a dual-motor setup for all-wheel drive.
The Curvv ICE is a coupe SUV with sharp body lines, flush-type door handles and a sporty front grille. Usual bits like the DRLs front and back and LED headlights are present and towards the side, there are dual-tone alloy wheels measuring 18 inches. As has been with recent Tata cars, the SUV will get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver’s display and a panoramic sunroof.
Its EV sibling will offer similar feature loadings. For charging, Tata has placed the flap on the nose. Notable features include wireless charging and a hands-free tailgate.
In the ICE Curvv, there will be six airbags apart from ABS, EBD and ESC. It is reported that the petrol and diesel Curvv SUVs will boast a Level 2 ADAS suite.
On the Curvv EV side of things, it will include six airbags, a 360-degree camera, as well as ADAS. The Curvv EV will have ADAS features combined with connected car technology that includes real-time diagnostics and remote vehicle control.
