Tata Sierra EV Launch expected in July 2026 Safari EV commercial launch by Diwali
Facing stiff competition from Mahindra, Tata Motors is aggressively looking to increase its electric product portfolio to maintain its top position in the Indian electric vehicle market. The company has locked in a major product pipeline update: the much-anticipated Tata Sierra EV is slated to launch within the next two months.
Tata Motors will double down on the premium electric segment by rolling out its flagship three-row electric SUV, the Tata Safari EV. The three-row electric SUV will be launched during Diwali festive season.
Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors will launch the Sierra EV in the Q2 of the current financial year, between July-September. It will be the brand’s most important electric SUV, as it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6 and the VinFast VF6.
It will be built on the acti.ev+ architecture, which is claimed to offer superior space management and large battery capacities. The Tata Sierra EV will sit between the Tata Curvv EV and the flagship Harrier EV. It is expected to be offered with two battery choices, including 55kWh from Curvv EV and 65kWh from Tata Harrier EV.
The electric SUV could offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of around 540km - 600km, and a realistic range of around 400-450km. The higher variants will come with a dual-motor AWD setup. The electric SUV will support up to 100 kW DC Fast Charging. The Sierra EV will come with LEVEL 2+ ADAS, V2L, V2V charging and a 360-degree surround view camera. Similar to the Sierra ICE, the electric Sierra will have triple screen setup comprising a dedicated 12.3-inch central screen, a 12.3-inch co-occupant entertainment screen and a 10-inch digital driver’s display.
Tata Safari EV
The Tata Safari EV, the upcoming flagship 7-seater EV will make its commercial debut during the Diwali 2026 festive season. It will be a direct rival to the Mahindra XEV 9S. The 7-seater electric SUV will be built on the Acti.ev+ architecture that also underpins the Harrier EV.
It is likely to feature two battery choices - a 65 kWh pack for lower-spec variants and a 75 kWh pack for the higher-spec variants. The electric SUV is expected to offer a claimed range of around 600km (MIDC), and a realistic range of around 450-500km on a single charge.
The Safari EV will be a rear-wheel-drive electric SUV; however, the higher-spec model will offer a Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. It will feature dedicated “Off-Road” and “Snow” modes.
