It is no secret that SUVs are dominating the Indian car market, which is evident from the strong rise of Mahindra. There is also an increase in demand for 3-row SUVs, and most brands are now preparing to launch India-centric 7-seater SUVs in the next couple of years. Here is a list of upcoming new 7-seater SUVs in the country in the 2026 and 2027.
Launch - Mid-2026
Competition - XUV700, SafariEstimated
Price - Rs 15 - 24 lakh

Renault has confirmed that it will launch an all-new 3-row SUV based on the CMF-B modular platform in India. It is basically the 7-seater version of the Dacia Bigster or Renault Boreal, which are available in global markets as 5-seater SUVs. The SUV will take on the likes of the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and the Hyundai Alcazar.
It is likely to be powered by a 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. The SUV will also receive a hybrid version at a later stage.
Launch - End of 2025 or early 2026
Competition - Tata Safari
Estimated Price - Rs 15 - 26 lakh

Mahindra will give the XUV700 a mid-life update before the end of this year. The Mahindra XUV700 facelift will receive cosmetic design changes, including a revised front grille, updated bumpers and a slightly updated headlamp unit. Big changes will be made inside the cabin, as it will get the XEV 9e-like triple screen dashboard.
Some of the key additions will include auto dimming IRVM, second-row ventilated seats, front parking sensors and a new music system with DOLBY ATMOS tech. The SUV will continue to be powered by the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engine. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Launch - Q1, 2026
Competition - Tata Harrier EV
Estimated Price - Rs 23 - 32 lakh

Mahindra will launch its third SUV based on the INGLO Skateboard platform in the first quarter of 2026. Rumoured to be called the XEV 7e, the new electric 7-seater SUV will sit above the XEV 9e. It will be offered with two battery choices - a 59kWh and a 79kWh - with rear-wheel-drive setup as standard. The higher-spec model is also likely to get a dual-motor AWD setup.
Launch - 2027
Competition - Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari
Estimated Price - Rs 15 - 24 lakh
Nissan has officially announced to launch two new SUVs - a 5-seater derivative of the Duster and a 7-seater SUV. Both models will be based on the CMF-B modular platform, and will be manufactured at Renault’s Chennai based production plant. The Nissan 7-seater SUV will carry its own brand identity; however, it will share body panels and features with the Renault Boreal/Bigster. It will be powered by a 1.3L turbo petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox.
Launch - 2027
Competition - Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar
Estimated Price - Rs 15 - 25 lakh
Honda is developing an all-new 7-seater SUV for India as well as global markets. This SUV will be based on an all-new PF2 modular architecture, which will be compatible with hybrid and electric powertrains. The 7-seater SUV is reportedly to come with a hybrid powertrain and will rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700 and others in the category.
Launch - 2027
Competition - Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari
Estimated Price - Rs 18 - 28 lakh
Hyundai and Kia are also developing new hybrid SUVs for the Indian market. Details about both SUVs are yet to be revealed, but the Kia 7-seater SUV is rumoured to be based on Sorento’s platform. The new SUVs will be offered with ICE and hybrid powertrains.
