Renault will launch a new 7-seater SUV by mid-2026 Mahindra XUV700 facelift arriving late 2025, XEV 7e in Q1, 2026 Nissan and Honda will launch 7-seater hybrid SUVs in 2027 Hyundai and Kia are developing new 7-seater SUV for India
It is no secret that SUVs are dominating the Indian car market, which is evident from the strong rise of Mahindra. There is also an increase in demand for 3-row SUVs, and most brands are now preparing to launch India-centric 7-seater SUVs in the next couple of years. Here is a list of upcoming new 7-seater SUVs in the country in the 2026 and 2027.
Launch - Mid-2026
Competition - XUV700, SafariEstimated
Price - Rs 15 - 24 lakh

Renault has confirmed that it will launch an all-new 3-row SUV based on the CMF-B modular platform in India. It is basically the 7-seater version of the Dacia Bigster or Renault Boreal, which are available in global markets as 5-seater SUVs. The SUV will take on the likes of the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and the Hyundai Alcazar.
It is likely to be powered by a 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. The SUV will also receive a hybrid version at a later stage.
Launch - End of 2025 or early 2026
Competition - Tata Safari
Estimated Price - Rs 15 - 26 lakh

Mahindra will give the XUV700 a mid-life update before the end of this year. The Mahindra XUV700 facelift will receive cosmetic design changes, including a revised front grille, updated bumpers and a slightly updated headlamp unit. Big changes will be made inside the cabin, as it will get the XEV 9e-like triple screen dashboard.
Some of the key additions will include auto dimming IRVM, second-row ventilated seats, front parking sensors and a new music system with DOLBY ATMOS tech. The SUV will continue to be powered by the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engine. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Launch - Q1, 2026
Competition - Tata Harrier EV
Estimated Price - Rs 23 - 32 lakh

Mahindra will launch its third SUV based on the INGLO Skateboard platform in the first quarter of 2026. Rumoured to be called the XEV 7e, the new electric 7-seater SUV will sit above the XEV 9e. It will be offered with two battery choices - a 59kWh and a 79kWh - with rear-wheel-drive setup as standard. The higher-spec model is also likely to get a dual-motor AWD setup.
Launch - 2027
Competition - Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari
Estimated Price - Rs 15 - 24 lakh
Nissan has officially announced to launch two new SUVs - a 5-seater derivative of the Duster and a 7-seater SUV. Both models will be based on the CMF-B modular platform, and will be manufactured at Renault’s Chennai based production plant. The Nissan 7-seater SUV will carry its own brand identity; however, it will share body panels and features with the Renault Boreal/Bigster. It will be powered by a 1.3L turbo petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox.
Launch - 2027
Competition - Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar
Estimated Price - Rs 15 - 25 lakh
Honda is developing an all-new 7-seater SUV for India as well as global markets. This SUV will be based on an all-new PF2 modular architecture, which will be compatible with hybrid and electric powertrains. The 7-seater SUV is reportedly to come with a hybrid powertrain and will rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700 and others in the category.
Launch - 2027
Competition - Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari
Estimated Price - Rs 18 - 28 lakh
Hyundai and Kia are also developing new hybrid SUVs for the Indian market. Details about both SUVs are yet to be revealed, but the Kia 7-seater SUV is rumoured to be based on Sorento’s platform. The new SUVs will be offered with ICE and hybrid powertrains.
