Volkswagen India has started local assembly of the Tayron R-Line in India, marking an important step for the brand’s premium SUV plans. The model is being assembled at Volkswagen’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra and is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2026.
With local assembly of the Tayron R-Line, Volkswagen aims to make its premium, German-engineered SUVs more accessible to Indian buyers. The move also highlights the brand’s focus on expanding its presence in the growing premium SUV segment in the country.
The Tayron R-Line has begun rolling out from the production line in line with Volkswagen India’s planned launch timeline. The SUV has entered local production in less than a year after its global debut, underlining the brand’s commitment to the Indian market.
The Tayron R-Line is positioned as Volkswagen India’s most premium SUV. It offers a proper seven-seat layout, practical cabin space and sporty R-Line styling. The design blends a strong road presence with refined details aimed at premium SUV buyers.
The start of local assembly strengthens Volkswagen’s SUV portfolio in India and improves its operational readiness. With production now underway, the brand is preparing to gain momentum in the premium SUV space ahead of the Tayron R-Line’s launch in early 2026.
