With the festive season fast approaching, car manufacturers are lining up new products to capitalise on customer’s spending behaviour. The first upcoming SUV in this list is Toyota’s first compact SUV in India. The Hyryder comes packed with many segment-first features which include strong hybrid setup and a smart AWD offering. Built on Suzuki’s Global C-platform, this SUV offers enough space, tech and safety for all its occupants. With bookings underway, the car is expected to hit the market during the first week of September 2022 with the option of a 1.5-litre K-Series Mild Hybrid and another 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine. At launch this will be the most fuel-efficient car in the country with an ARAI claimed economy of 27.9 kmpl.

Coming in for its first major overhaul, MG Hector is the car on the list. Set for a festive season launch, the upcoming SUV is expected to come with updated exterior design, new dashboard layout and upgraded feature list. The highlight of the new cabin will be a large tablet-like 14-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with haptic buttons and connected car technology. The interiors of the new model will conceptualise ‘Symphony of Luxury’, offering a cinematic and immersive experience to its occupants. Other updates to the car will include the addition of Level-2 ADAS. The new model will be sold alongside the existing model and attract a premium of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh.

The first EV in this story comes from the house of Chinese auto manufacturer, BYD (Build Your Dreams). Named the Atto 3, the upcoming SUV get a cross-over like sporty exterior design that will be complemented by a premium looking interior. The equipment list on the four-wheeler includes a large digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, 360-degree parking camera, 7 airbags, TPMS and ADAS tech. Powering the SUV will be two battery packs, first is a 49.92 kWh unit while the other is a larger 60.48 kWh long range battery system. The car is rated for a maximum range of 420 kilometres while producing 201 bhp and 310 Nm.

The next product in this list comes from homegrown auto manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra. Media reports doing rounds suggest that the brand is readying up to launch its first mainstream EV in the country in the form of the XUV400 Electric. This upcoming SUV will be an electric version of the already popular XUV300. Expected to be unveiled on the 6th of September 2022, the four-wheeler will get EV specific powertrain and design update over the XUV300. To further differentiate the two vehicles, the company is expected to provide the EV with blue accents and a larger 4.2 meter frame. The car was first showcased as eXUV300 concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. Powertrain details are currently under wraps at the moment.

Almost four years after it was launched in the Indian market, the Harrier compact SUV is all set to get a major makeover. The upcoming SUV has been spied numerous times with test equipment attached giving hopes of a new petrol engine and a more efficient diesel engine coming to the SUV soon. The other expected changes on the vehicle include an updated infotainment unit, 360-degree parking camera, air purifier, ventilated front seats and more. The same changes are also expected to trickle down to the bigger Safari as well. While we have received no official communication from the company, a new teaser video reveals the arrival of a new limited addition model to the line-up before the facelift model will be launched.
