Will be the first strong hybrid SUV; Gets multiple petrol powertrain options; Official launch scheduled in the coming months
After months of speculations and millions of spy shots later, Toyota Kirloskar Motors has finally revealed its B-Segment SUV contender, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in India. The SUV gets a bold styling with many segment first features.
Highlights of the SUVs exterior design include Unique Crystal Acrylic upper grille, LED projector headlamp and twin LED DRLs. On the side we see new 17-inch dual tone alloy wheel. The four-wheeler will be available in 7 monotone and 4 dual tone exterior colour options.

On the inside the car features an all-new dashboard layout like the one seen on the recently launched Glanza hatchback but gets dual tone colour treatment. Highlights of the cabin include a large 9-inch touchscreen, HUD, wireless charging, ambient lights and a large panoramic sunroof.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is available with two petrol engine options mated to a range of transmission options. The less expensive of the line-up will be the 1.5-litre K-Series engine with a mild-hybrid system capable of producing 100bhp and 135 Nm. On the expensive end will be the 1.5-litre with Toyota Hybrid system. This system will have a combined power output of 113bhp. While the self-charging hybrid is mated to a e-CVT, the smart hybrid will come with an option for a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifter.

Taking the SUV game seriously, Toyota is also introducing an AWD set-up with the car.

Launch of the vehicle and price reveal is scheduled for a later date.

So, tell us, does the Urban Cruiser Hyryder appeal to you? Will you prefer this over other SUVs in the segment?
