New-gen Hyundai Bayon spotted in Korea Launch expected in 2027 To rival Fronx and Magnite
It Is no secret that Hyundai is developing an all-new crossover, which will be positioned between the Exter and Venue in India. The new crossover is rumoured to be the new-gen Hyundai Bayon, and it will directly rival the Suzuki Fronx. Maruti Suzuki Fronx has been receiving an unprecedented response from buyers, and Hyundai is aiming at this space to drive its sales in the market.

The new Hyundai crossover has been snapped in South Korea, revealing some of its design details. Codenamed BC4i CUV, the new model will sit below 4 meters in length. The current-gen Bayon measures 4180mm in length, 1775mm in width and 1500mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,580mm. For people not in the know, the 3rd Gen i20 and Bayon CUV were codenamed BC3.
The sub-4 meter model will allow Hyundai to avail B segment tax benefits. Maruti Suzuki is also developing the Fronx facelift, which will come with a hybrid powertrain and ADAS tech. The Fronx hybrid was earlier planned to be launched in 2026; however, the launch has been pushed to 2027.

The existing Hyundai Bayon looks like a jagged-up hatchback or a crossover; however, the next-gen model will carry a boxy silhouette to offer SUV-look. We have already seen similar design direction for latest Hyundai SUVs, including the new-gen Hyundai Venue. It will have a sporty grille, Venue-like LED daytime running lamps, split headlamp setup and the connected tail-lights. The SUV will have higher ground clearance, sweeping shoulder line and a coupe-styled roofline.

The Hyundai Bayon will have a cabin similar to the new Venue SUV. It is expected to get a twin-display comprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch driver’s display. The new Bayon crossover is likely to be equipped with automatic climate control, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ADAS tech, 8-speaker Bose sound system, four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs and others.
The new Bayon crossover is likely to get a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol engine. The Korean giant is also working on a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which will be hybrid ready. This engine could also power the new Hyundai SUV.
The new Hyundai Bayon crossover is expected to be launched sometime in late 2026 or early 2027. It will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Other challengers will include Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Kia Sonet.
