Two years ago, Toyota decided to expand the Land Cruiser family to offer more options for adventure lovers. The 2026 FJ Cruiser is their latest move in that direction, combining the tough, off-road qualities that made the original model famous, with a modern, more compact design.
The FJ Cruiser has always been a beloved part of Toyota's off-road history. After being discontinued a few years back, it's making a comeback, now featuring a more stylish design, updated technology, and better performance to match today’s off-roading needs.
The 2026 Toyota FJ Cruiser takes cues from Toyota’s Compact Cruiser EV Concept, combining tough design with modern features. Its exterior is bold, with a strong, upright stance that off-road lovers will appreciate. The body has sharp lines, flared wheel arches, and heavy-duty bumpers, giving it a rugged, adventurous appearance.

Depending on the model, the FJ Cruiser will come with either round or rectangular headlights. One standout feature is the tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a trademark of the FJ Cruiser, giving it a unique look. Toyota is also offering options to personalize the vehicle, including removable bumpers and accessories like cargo panels and snorkels for more adventure.

Inside, the 2026 FJ Cruiser focuses on functionality and comfort for long journeys. The dashboard has a clean, simple layout with a 12.5-inch infotainment screen. Physical buttons for climate control make it easier to use while off-roading.
The steering wheel has controls for audio and cruise settings, and the fully digital instrument cluster adds a modern feel. The cabin is designed to keep passengers comfortable and connected, no matter the terrain.
The 2026 FJ Cruiser will come with a 2.7L 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing 161 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque. With a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 4X4 transfer case, the FJ Cruiser is ready for off-road challenges. Whether you’re driving in the city or on a rugged trail, the FJ Cruiser delivers solid performance.
Though smaller than the Land Cruiser, the FJ Cruiser doesn’t compromise on performance. It’s built on the same platform as the Land Cruiser 250 and offers impressive ground clearance (215.3 mm) and an approach angle of 31 degrees, making it an excellent off-roading vehicle.
The FJ Cruiser’s shorter wheelbase (270 mm shorter than the Land Cruiser 250) gives it a smaller turning radius of just 5.5 meters, making it easy to drive in tight spaces—perfect for both city driving and rugged trails.
Toyota plans to launch the 2026 FJ Cruiser around mid-2026 in Japan, with other markets likely following soon after. Fans can look forward to a mix of modern tech and classic off-road styling, designed to handle various terrains.
