Toyota has taken the wraps off the all-new Land Cruiser FJ, bringing back the spirit of the iconic FJ Cruiser in a modern avatar. The compact off-roader made its global debut on October 21, 2025, ahead of its official showcase at the Japan Mobility Show later this month.
Although the brand has not confirmed an India launch yet, Toyota could introduce the Land Cruiser FJ in the country by 2027, depending on demand and localisation feasibility.
The new Land Cruiser FJ sits below the Land Cruiser 250 Series and is being seen as a “Baby Land Cruiser” or “Mini Fortuner”. The SUV combines traditional off-road toughness with modern-day features. It is appealing to both adventure enthusiasts and urban drivers.
The model will first go on sale in Japan by mid-2026, following its global showcase at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.

Toyota has retained the boxy design language that made the FJ Cruiser an icon. The new version comes with two front-end options — one featuring round headlights and the other with rectangular units.
Other exterior highlights include:
- LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs
- Chunky bumpers and flared rectangular wheel arches
- Prominent body cladding
- Tailgate-mounted spare wheel
In terms of dimensions, the Land Cruiser FJ measures 4,574 mm long, 1,854 mm wide, and 1,960 mm tall, with a 2,580 mm wheelbase.
Inside, Toyota has given the Land Cruiser FJ a functional and durable interior with a few modern touches. It features a multi-layered dashboard, a 12.5-inch infotainment screen, a chunky steering wheel, and physical controls for easier operation during off-road use.
The new Land Cruiser FJ is powered by a 2.7-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It comes with a 4x4 drivetrain, capable of handling rough terrain with ease.
This engine is expected to deliver 160 hp and 245 Nm of torque, offering reliable performance for both city and adventure use.
Toyota has not announced anything officially, but the Land Cruiser FJ might arrive in India by 2027. If launched, it could be a smaller and more affordable alternative to the Fortuner, made for those who love rugged SUVs.
