Toyota has confirmed the global debut of the new FJ Cruiser at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The official Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 2026 will first be launched in Japan, followed by international markets, including India. While the exact date for the India launch is not confirmed, it is expected to come in late 2028. The FJ Cruiser will rival tough off-road competitors like the Mahindra Thar Roxx, Force Gurkha, and Maruti Suzuki Jimny if it enters the Indian market.
The new FJ Cruiser maintains its classic design, featuring a boxy shape and a muscular stance. The front of the vehicle has C-shaped headlights, a studded grille, and a large bumper with a skid plate for protection. The SUV will also feature square wheel arches, roof rails, and running boards. The rear of the vehicle will include C-shaped tail lamps and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
The interior of the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is designed to be functional and durable, with an all-black theme. It features dual displays for infotainment and instrument control. The multi-layered dashboard is practical and easy to use during off-roading. The Toyota Safety Sense package, which includes pre-collision safety systems, will be available as standard.
Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be powered by a 2.7-litre 2TR-FE petrol engine, delivering 163 PS and 246 Nm of torque. It will feature a 6-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system. This configuration makes the FJ Cruiser suitable for off-road use.
The IMV platform provides the vehicle with the necessary stability and strength. The FJ Cruiser measures 4,575 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,960 mm in height, with a 2,580 mm wheelbase. The shorter wheelbase helps in better manoeuvrability on rough terrain.
